So I upgraded my JSS and Distribution Points but now when I run Casper Admin I can no longer mount the shares. I can mount them manually in Finder and then Casper Admin works fine, but the Casper Admin app cannot mount drives. All the settings are the same, IP and DNS, and all the share points are all located on the same volume, ie /Volumes/data_hd/CasperShare and the read only and read/write accounts were recreated and permissions and ACLs reapplied. It is the same as before and it will work when I mount it manually. However it will not automatically mount....? Why?
I already wiped out all the preference files for Casper Admin as well, and reisntalled the JSS and set the CasperShare manually during install, and still no dice?
Anyone know why?
Thanks
Tom

I had a similar problem, had to "Fix permissions" using the JSS Setup

Well
My problem still exists. I have reset the JSS password, repaired permissions, and still Casper Admin cannot mount or sync any server at all. I can mount everything manually no problem and all POSIX and ACLs are exactly how they were before hand. Basically I just backed up the JSS database, pulled out every drive with a new 1TB drive, created a RAID 5 array, reloaded OS X Server and JSS setup utility, then imported my database back up and now that I put everything back as it was, it doesn't work.
I think my mysql database back up may be read only or something to that effect. I also ensured that all the read/write and read only casper accounts were in there properly.
thoughts?

Is the username your using to manually mount the same as the one specified in the JSS? If not, can you try that.
Also, are the casper accounts domain accounts? Can you see if there passwords have expired or they are locked?
Oh... & if you're authenticating to a share on a child domain, are you prefixing the username with you domain?

All casper accounts on the servers are local. I create local accounts
with the same username and password for the read only and read/write
accounts so they aren't in OD. Like I said, I mimicked the settings
exactly as they were and I am having issues with Casper admin. Now, if
I remote into one of the 6 xserves I can mount the master share fine and
copy/paste and all ACLs and POSIX are preserved.

Are you using casper admin locally on the server then?

Nope, on a desktop, I know it won't run on the Master server

hahaha thanks yeah if I couldn't have already figured this out I would
have not posted on the list and created a support ticket with Jamf. I
have set up many JSS/Casper environments, including my one at home when
I bring work home to test it out.
This is just baffling me. I am currently going into the web front end
and deleting and readding all servers to see if that makes a difference

When you restored your jss did u create new admin and install user
casperadmin / casperinstall
And reset the password in WGM in the local directory, and then put the same details into the jss web page.
I know that sounds obvious
If I was to do it I would install the jss without setting up the DP, then restore the database , then in WGM create the two accounts and then set the DP in the jss
The user id is what posix work on and not the name so make sure your accounts have the same uid as before
