Changing JSS URL and DEP

We are in the process of planning to update the JSS URL to an external facing URL. The current setup is the JSS URL is setup as an internal server name that is on a non-Internet facing domain. We are trying to plan the easiest transition method for our users with devices already. The devices have been setup using Apple DEP and we are wondering once we make the switch to the new URL if we can simply point all of our clients to the new Enrollment URL and have them re-enroll their devices or do we have to wipe the device and go through the DEP process again to ensure they are setup correctly? Thanks in advance for all the help.

Interesting.. Now why would you want to expose your internal JSS to the Web?whats the purpose for Lost prevention/ installing pkg outside your network? And to update your clients i would simply create a Quick Add PKG and deploy it VIA a policy. Also, Would it not make more sense to set up a Casper DMZ with a split DNS ? That way you're not exposing you database to the outside world. (one password away from disaster)

@mkempster Did you have any problems (before your URL change) with the DEP activation steps externally from your organization? Currently DEP activation/enrollment works fine internally, but not externally. I have a JSS web app setup externally that is successfully communicating with iPads for check-ins, etc. DEP activation/enrollment doesn't work though. Did you have to open additional ports? Thanks.
