Compiling Configurations - Kernel Panics?

Not applicable

Hi gang,

Finally got frustrated enough to feel the need to post this. I'm not
sure what's going on, but I'm starting to see kernel panics about 1/3 of
the time when I compile configurations in Casper Admin.

I'm on a MBP unibody running 10.6.3, the configurations I'm trying to
compile are all 10.6.3 configurations, made with the 10.6.3 retail disk.
Every time it gets past the OS install, and usually gets several
packages in before unexplainably kernel panicking the machine. It
doesn't seem to happen on any specific package more/most often, and if I
had to pick the most frequent culprit it would have to be the clean-up
process when it's actually scanning for restore.

Anyone else seen this? It's a major time killer and I'd like to figure
out what's going on...

Thanks,
Bob

Are you using Casper Admin to create your initial OS image? I would
also start looking at your log files, both the jamf log and the system
log and see what jumps out. Kernel panics generally mean some kind of
major instability like file system or hardware issues.

I am using Composer/Casper Admin yes.

I haven’t had time to dig through log files yet, but it’s happened to me both of the 2 times I’ve tried to compile a configuration this morning…
