Hi guys
I know I'm late with this and we are currently on cs5 and cs6 is out, but I tried this the first time just to get an idea of the current imaging and deployment issues with cs5.5 so that I could get an idea if Adobe are making improvements in future compatible AAMEE releases.
I followed the JAMF white paper for deploying CS5.5 to copy it at imaging time selected. Unfortunately it fails and in the logs it just says encountered an error contact the manufacturer...lol tried that before with Adobe and didn't get far...
I then tried pushing out the Adobe CS5.5.pkg out to my test machine via ARD and it failed if I was logged in to that machine. But then I tried with no one logged in and it worked.
I don't think there is anything wrong with my method I am very particular and funny about RTFM. I have thought about Composer snapshot but I don't really want to go down that road again especially with something so complex as this and is prone to errors.
I have also considered using a wrapper pkg with a post install script to install it. How are you guys deploying it at the moment?
Solved! Go to Solution.

Run the installer manually by double-clicking it. Does it work?
My guess is that you haven't selected the option to ignore conflicting processes when creating your package in AAMEE. Usually, a browser is open while you're trying to install and this will cause failure.
Because Creative Suite installs fonts in /Library/Fonts and because it likes browsers to be quit I suggest always installing while the machine sits at the login window and never while anyone is logged in to the machine.

@tkimpton @talkingmoose If you guys like AAMEE 2 for CS5.5, you're gonna love AAMEE 3 for CS6.

Hi Will
I just tried using AAMEE 3.0 and packaged up CS6 standard with igonre errors.
Pushing out with ARD logged in user fails
Also Pushing out with ARD with no logged in user fails
Logged in as local admin account, point and click install works fine!!!
Looks like we are back with the same Adobe problems......

Hi Ben I will give it a go via a policy and let you know what happens. Ps we must catch up for a beer soon :)

im trying the dmg and script method through a policy, mounting the caspershare as an afp volume and still getting it failing...hmmmmm :(
Posted on 05-15-2012 04:48 AM
That's disappointing. :( got an error message?
& yes, beer soon!

Hi Ben
I can confirm through a policy, dmg and script works. Im using a smart group with Receipts information using a dummy receipt :)
Packages Installed By Casper does not have myAdobeCS6std.pkg
and Packages Installed by Casper has MyDummyReceiptmyAdobeCS6.pkg
The problem was my trigger was set to Any!!! Once i changed it to Every15 all is ok.
The way i can get around any problems deploying via Casper Remote or ARD is just deploying the Dummy Receipt :)

Que? Dummy receipt?
Do you mean you're caching before installing?

Used AAMEE 3.0 to package Design Standard CS6 omitting the Adobe Air components and fonts. Pushed it to a machine and everything installed and launched fine.
InDesign and Illustrator want to authenticate to our proxy at first launch. I've provided screenshots to Adobe. This could be related to the Help system, which I installed after the fact following Adobe's guidelines. Although the command results looked successful the applications reported that Help wasn't installed. I've passed that along to Adobe as well.
Overall, I had a good experience with the install process. Still a little kludgy but I've gone from weeks trying to repackage CS and CS2 to a couple of hours to deploy (mostly) CS6. That's a win for me.
