Exporting Success/Failures Logs of Policy

Hi,

I am new to Capser. Just yesterday I tried deploying a software for 75 machines using Casper Policy. When I check the status, it shows the list of machines installed. I am able to see the success/failure report in the Ligs

How can I export the success/failure report of the policy as excel format?

Thanks in Advance.

Hi Karthikeyan,

I'm struggling, I don't really think there is a way to export the results of
a policy. I agree that it would be nice to get a simple report that X
machines performed the update, X machines failed, and that X machines still
need to run it. Additionally to get a short list of systems that failed so
they can be followed up on easily instead of searching for the red systems
in the list (although I should get emails for policy failures anyway), and
you already get a breakdown of systems yet to run on the website. However, a
nice way to export that to a Excel and/or PDF if management wanted a pretty
report. =)

I hope it's Ok to bring up this old thread, started by Karthikeyan in December. Does version 7.21 offer an effective way to produce reports after a policy is used to distribute software?

The reason I ask, management is asking for regular reports in our weekly meetings. It should be an easy task to produce a report showing N total Macs successful, N total Macs failed.

If the GUI doesn't offer a way, my next question would be, is the reporting data present in the MySQL database? If it is, perhaps one of our MySQL gurus can run a custom query? I actually am in the process of opening a support ticket with JAMF to open a dialog about this capability.

Just curious...has anyone here tapped into the MySQL database yet?

Thanks,
Don

If the data is already there in the DB, send a request in to support and
they can probably whip up a custom report for you. The reports are just
Java Server Pages.

Hi Steve,

I guess that's the question...is the success/fail information stored in the database (must be I guess, but I'm no MySQL or JSS expert <g>). If it is, and if one of our MySQL developers can put together a web GUI with switches to select what information they want to pull, it should be possible for a manager to quickly pull up an up to date report on software deployment history.

That's what's bouncing around my head right now...will know more tomorrow when I speak to a JAMF engineer to see what the possibilities are. For sure if a MySQL solution is needed, we have staff to get it done.

Thanks,
Don

I'm going to "bump" this discussion because I too am seeking to export Policy success/fail logs to an Excel report. Even printing them as PDF doesn't work; the pages are horribly formatted. The best I've been able to do is save the HTML from the browser and then manually clean it up in BBedit. That's obviously tedious and we'd want a way to save these as Excel files. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
