I want to adjust file associations so that documents are opened in the correct application. Specifically Word Documents being opened in Word and not text-edit. This seemed to be the default before re-imaging with casper, but now I have to change the associations manually (and they are user specific). I want to be able to push this out as a policy to all of our machines.
I found the program Duti in a previous thread, but have not been able to get it to run successfully. I have also tried using composer to create a dmg based on the launch service.plist but that did not work as well.
Is there a script that can handle this? Would be great if there was something less painful then manually touching each system. Thank you!

Isn't the bigger question here why is this happening? I would think that finding the root cause is better than "fixing" it with Profiles or the like...
Maybe post up some info on your workflow?

In the past we managed this with MCX, but I also think there is a way to do it with Config Profiles. If its not a built in option, you can set up your MCX (or a plist with the settings you want) and then use mcxToProfile to convert it to a Configuration Profile and use that.

Thank you Scott. Actually by going back and looking at the workflow i was able to resolve the issue. Office was being installed early in the imaging process. Once i made the change to have it installed after first login all of the file associations updated as they should. Thanks!
