General Check

Need quick general info. Suppose the server where JSS is installed is restarted or is being moved or else, what are the things we need to check if the application is working properly ? And how do we check them ? Example the services JAMF uses etc.

Tomcat service and MySQL would be two services on a Windows server.

Easiest way to check if the JSS is up and running is by accessing the web JSS. If you can login and view inventories and policies, I would say you're fine.

To add to the above, in addition to checking your JSS config it is worth testing that your clients can still interact using the JAMF binary and Push Certs.

Specifically, if you can...

  1. Run policies that install packages over HTTP(S)/SMB/AFP successfully ( sudo jamf policy)
  2. Submit inventory successfully ( sudo jamf recon) and see the changes reflected in the JSS.
  3. Install software and/or Profiles via Self Service

..then you should generally be ok. You can always run these commands in verbose mode to get the whole story.
