grey screen instead of loginwindow 10.8

Hi guys I'm on 10.8.2 and I have noticed since 10.8 now and again I am getting a grey screen where the login window should be.

I am finding I have to reboot about 3 times to get the login screen.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Think I'm going mad now

No I'm using a different encryption system.

Thanks Eric you were correct it is a conflict with a Config Profile.

I created a profile of a loginitems plist and this seems to screw it up. Also managing the login Window didn't help.

Did you enable FileVault? You might want to reference this StackExchange discussion: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/63289/grey-login-screen-after-enabling-encryption

Hmmm the problem has resurfaced and I have to reboot 3 times. I'm not managing the login Window and more.

Anyone know the command to see what profiles as installed. There may be old ones stuck in there (yes I know system preferences)

Tim,

If you look @ ```
man profiles
``` I think some commands there will list the installed profiles, BUT IIRC they only show the UDID's of the profiles. Not an easily readable name. Might be wrong though.
Thanks mate. I blatted the profiles and all is good. I think i was trying to do too much with mcxtoprofiles.
My new approach is going to create Config Profiles via the JSS Web gui and anything else script it.
hmm off the network with zero config profiles and still happening.
Its pointing to a script. Glad atleast its not a config profile. I think i would start turning loopy if it was lol.
I renamed a directory for my local scripts and all is good:)
Rebuild time me thinks!
Hi tkimpton,
I am experiencing this in my environment now. We noticed this after upgrading to 9.62 JSS. Symptoms are the exact same, but on 10.9.3 iMacs.
I removed the MCX configurations, which set screen saver loginwindow and ByHost. Seeing if that helps.
Wondering how your environment is now, and if anything else you did?
Thanks...
