I have some web site requirements to use Java 6 with users on 10.7.5. I've tried to install the latest Java fix from Apple 1.6.0_29 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421). But with the existing version of java installed being U25, I'm getting an error that states the version 29 won't install because "Error - A newer version of this package is already installed." - Um NO IT'S NOT! I've even tried completely removing Java, and it appears I was successful at that.
But even then, after trying to reinstall Java for OS X Lion Update 1 (1.6.0_29), it fails. It doesn't matter whether I try to install directly onto the machine, or pushing through Casper. It's driving me nutz!

Is Java 1.7 installed per chance?

Java 1.7 is NOT installed. I've taken a 10.7.5 image direct from Apple. NO Java should be installed.

Hmm.. Latest is 1.6.0_37 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572).
But even when installed, it will be disabled. Maybe try this after installing the above? http://macmule.com/2013/02/19/getting-java-6-working-on-a-mac-that-has-only-had-java-7-installed/
