iOS 7 and Apple Configurator

Just thought I would share with you what I heard directly from Apple Support just now. We use Apple Configurator to disable Messages and a few other things. Then we will use iCloud to restore our students old information to their new iPad (in the case one breaks or messes up). As of iOS7, we are unable to keep the iPad supervised (and Messages disabled) after restoring from an iCloud backup. This is "Expected Behavior". I was told that by Apple EDU support.

If you need this function like our school does, please call your rep and tell them. Also, talk to Apple support and complain about this "feature".

The current work around I was given by the tech is to setup the device as a new device (instead of restoring from their iCloud backup). This is only half a solution as our students will still have to redownload their apps, reorganize their apps, and put bookmarks back on their homescreen.
