iOS Single App Mode Purgatory

I seem to have painted myself into a corner with a set of iPads.

I configured 10 loaner iPads for some students in Single App Mode (RedShift Astronomy). These iPads had a configuration profile for wifi with our wifi certificate payload so as not to be prompted to log in, trust, etc.

Since lending them out, our Wifi certificate was renewed, killing the wifi connection on the set. So obviously they are not checking in or getting any configuration profile changes. Since they're in Single App Mode I am unable to join them to our provisioning network. To top it off, our pre-stage enrollment set them to not allow pairing to other computers.

Any thoughts on how to remedy this are much appreciated!

I resolved this by powering up the Single App Mode iPads while connected to a Mac running Configurator 2. The iPads prompted to Trust the Mac, and were then able to be Prepared (erasing the iPads) and re-enrolled via pre-stage (DEP).
