Just saw this, thought I'd share

I do not have an iPad with me to test

Good to know. I didn't show up on mine until I put on the Smart Cover. Once I removed it the preference disappeared.

I've got an iPad 2, but not a smart cover. I'm curious if just turning off the setting to allow the smart cover to lock/unlock will remediate until there's a patch.

Yeah some comments on the Internet say that disabling the smart cover feature disables this security hole. Again, cannot test.

I've seen this, it's real and that's the current "fix"

Confirmed the hack worked
It has a 3rd party smart cover and it works as well.
When we turned the lock off, the cover won't shut the screen off…
Somewhat disabling the hack.

Hey all,
I saw this too, and there are some mitigating factors…
This, I guess "exploit" is the best word I can think of, only grants access to the last app that was active. If you hit the home button after accessing a locked iPad, the iPad relocks. If the iPad was on the home screen, and you use this exploit, you'll be unable to launch apps.
It's still not good, but hopefully this information will help folks mitigate risk until there's a fix from the good folks at Apple.
Just for the record, these comments are solely my own and do not constitute an official JAMF comment on the situation.
I hope this is helpful.

Jared ~
FYI…to disable this feature in iOS 5 you have to have a smart cover on. Otherwise, that preference to disable it does not appear.

Not so sure about that as I see it with my 3rd party cover
