Is Winnebago still the way to migrate local user accounts to AD user accounts?

It looks like it hasn't been updated in a while. I'm new to this party and can't get Winnebago working on Mavericks--I'm not sure if that's because it just doesn't work or if it's because I'm doing something wrong.

I've got a script for migrating local user to AD mobile accounts that works on 10.5.x and higher (including Mavericks). It's available here on my GitHub repo:

We were using a process online via a US university (cant find link off hand) that involved deleting the account, leaving home folder in place, resetting name and rights on that folder but ditched it in favour of recreating profiles manually. It wasn't particularly reliable in that certain apps failed afterwards (including iCloud login for no clear reason), Would be interested to se if this is better and people have a good experience with it. Would save lots of time.

Centify has built-in tools for migration.

The script listed above gives me an error stating 'It doesn't look like this Mac is communicating with AD correctly. Exiting the script."

Does anyone know how i can check what is going wrong? I am not very good with scripts :/
