Happy Update Day, Everybody!

We're using an auto updating script that silently reaches out to our update server and installs any Apple updates that do not require a restart. Works fantastically! Except for today...

With the release of iTunes 11, some Macs are installing just fine. Others encounter this problem:

Checking packages… Installing Package failed: Authorization is required to install the packages.

Obviously we don't have admin users out there. I don't suppose anyone has a workaround for this, would they?

softwareupdate -i -a works for us.

Thanks guys. Sending softwareupdate -i -a out via ARD to the few that wouldn't install worked. I'll be keeping this in mind if I encounter this again. Thanks!

Are you guys having iTunes 11 show up in your Software Update Servers? My SUS's are running 10.7.5 and have not yet picked up iTunes 11.

I have a 10.7.5 and a 10.8.2 Server. Both are showing iTunes 11, having been released on 11/29/12.

Apparently in 10.6 and 10.7 SUS you have to have "Automatically enable copied updates" turned on for some updates to show up in your SUS. After turning that on and syncing, iTunes 11 and several other updates showed up. Doesn't seem ideal...
