JAMF User based enrollment for non company owned mac computers

I work at a University. Because of coronavirus concerns, starting to get a lot of how do we get X pieces of software to our students that can't use labs.

So, lets say we want to put 30 pieces of Final Cut Pro on 30 student macs. Does JAMF support a user based enrollment for students and personal devices?

I'm not talking company owned devices. I already manage 1500 company owned macs and am very familiar with that aspect.

But, I've never put a personal mac in JAMF. The apple reps tell me there is such a thing but likely JAMF doesn't support it.

I just want to confirm. If it does support, documentation somewhere that I missed?

Yes. Yes, you can. It's called User-Initiated enrollment or User approved MDM. It's also a methodology fully supported by JAMF>. It's actually REALLY, REALLY common.

Technically you can with user-initiated enrollment but I don't know whether your license supports it with Jamf. You might want to talk to Jamf.

I'm a little interested in this too. Are you envisioning an installer you send them, or a way for them to pull it? A push or a pull?

While technically you can user-enroll any Mac, Apple (and Jamf) do not support the notion of BYOD enrollment like they do with mobile devices.

This is true, so some users may feel uncomfortable without the privacy offered by that feature. Also one other thing @dugnl, I would check with Apple on VPP licences for BYOD macOS machines, i believe you'll find there are some restrictions there.
