Hi K12 School Techs,

I'm curious to know what you all have as your core set of iOS apps on your default iPad "image." Secondary vs Elementary?

Thanks!
~Joe

We purposely put as few apps as possible on the devices for the sake of keeping them updated. We are using the layered approach and letting students download the apps via self-service.
The apps we did include though are:
Pages
Keynote
Numbers
iMovie Garageband
and the only non-apple app was our note take Goodnotes
(We are also narrowing in on some kind of storage software either MobiEcho or one of the cloud storage services Drive or Dropbox.)

We're officially rolling out iPads to 8th grade next year, so this is a huge help--great idea folks. :)

We load the VPP paid ones from AC and allow the kids to download the others via a web clip linking to a google doc with iTunes links. This way I don't have a ton of free apps to deal with in Self Service. Also it makes the student responsible for their free app updates. You will also find that rarely do all the apps get used and space is limited. If you want the elementary list I can email it to you with the iTunes links rather than post here.

I think we have a similar idea there as far as putting the responsibility of the updates on the student. I like the idea of the google form though.

How are folks dealing with Evernote now that it's rated 17+? We allow students to add their own apps but have set the threshold at 12+ to disallow filter bypasses like Puffin, as well as games like GTA. Use of Evernote is heavy at our high schools, but not sure we can afford the fallout/CIPA-issues of opening up the 17+ category.
