Losing Defaults - Acrobat - Chrome - Outlook

Hi

My users are experiencing an issue with 10.8.4 and 10.8.3 in which they set
Acrobat for PDF viewer
Outlook for default mail
Chrome as default browser

These defaults seem to stick until the user restarts their machine or logs off when the machine is off our network (so at home) when they do this they lose those defaults and it reverts back to mail, preview and safari.

I'm not really sure whats going on.

When we bind the machines we have the following selected(see attached)

Any assistance/help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

It sounds like a permissions issue to me, like they don't have write access to a location/file. Check their ~/Library/Preferences folder and files to make sure they are all owned by their userid and they have read/write access. In particular, check com.apple.LaunchServices.plist.

If they are all owned by their userid and they have read/write access, do you have any policies in place that might be writing/overwriting this file?

What Josh said, these settings are controlled by the LaunchServices database. Somehow these settings are getting reset to defaults, you need to see if you can replicate this behavior:

1) With devices on the network
2) With devices off the network
