Anybody know, off the top of their heads, if the mini's require a custom build or do they work fine on 10.8.2 c60?

They do require a customized build. I'm waiting for 10.8.3 to come out before I image these guys.

Geez...we've been forked by Apple again. :(

@don I wish they would have bought us dinner first... or at least a bag of Cheetos.

I'd like to think that with over $100 Billion dollars in the bank they could do better than Cheetos.

The problem with Apple isn't just that they fork you, but also that they keep bombarding you with patches and updates, geez they just won't leave you alone. Today is a good example...I'm hoping someone else steps in, I'm really tired of going there... :(

Strangely, my Late 2012 Mac Mini pulled down 10.8.1, build number 12B2080 when I re-downloaded the OS via recovery mode to an external HD. Shouldn't it have grabbed 10.8.2, build 12C2034?? Weird.

They do ship with a special build of 10.8.1, but won't work with 'stock' 10.8.2 builds...
I used instadmg, started with a 10.8.2 base image and added the"10.8.2 supplemental update" that was released for the new models, which created 10.8.2 build 12B2080 which works on the new late 2012 machines....
(that update was yanked by apple and replaced with 'OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Supplemental Update 2.0')

I built an image using the OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Supplemental Update 2.0, and it still wouldn't boot correctly. However, after much flailing about I found that Apple had reissued OSXUpd10.8.2 dmg - used this to update the build in InstaDMG, and this turned out to be bootable on my 2012 Mini server. :-)
