Netboot w/Casper imaging (Version 7.0)

We are having an issue with imaging with Casper Netboot (diskless).
The process appears to work however, when the machine finishes imaging
and reboots, the machine hasn't been imaged at all. It appears the
hard drive isn't being erased. I have successfully imaged if I use disk
util to erase the hard drive first.

Hello,

I know this message is a little old - but we are having the same problem.

We have a 10.4.11 Netboot image with Casper Imaging 7.1. It acts like it is
erasing the Hard Drive, but never does.

When you netboot are you able to manually unmount the internal drive?
One cause for the drive not being erased could be that the system is not actually netbooting in diskless mode.
When that happens, there are certain shadow files for the netboot image that are held on the internal drive preventing it from being unmounted.
See if you can manually unmount the drive and erase it as part of your troubleshooting steps.

I can manually unmount it - but only if I force it.

The Netboot set has not change, expect for the updated Casper Imaging app.

I ended up completely rebuilding the 10.4.11 NetBoot set with Casper Imaging
7.1, which appears to have fixed the problem.

I'm not sure exactly what the issue was, but it may have been that the
NetBoot set was not mounting as Diskless (as Lance suggested).

Thanks
