Network connection when hard disk is asleep?

We're troubleshooting Skype For Business and it logging users out when they're away from their Macs. We're looking at modifying the existing Energy Savings settings we use, and thinking of disabling putting the "hard disk(s) asleep whenever possible." However, does anyone have good evidence that putting them to sleep doesn't affect the network connection? We'd like to save power obviously, but want to keep the network connection as long as possible too.

I think you may want to read up about that function, it think its more about external drives connected it spins down. Have you enabled power nap while on battery or when plugged in wake for Wi-Fi access?
