Our security dept asked me to look into disabling netbios from our environment since it's no longer being updated and considered a security risk. Anybody have any thoughts? We are mostly a Wintel (Windows/Intel) so most of our shares are SMB/Cifs. with a broad mix of Wintel Servers, 2003-2008R2 (I think we retired the win 2000 servers). What are the some caveats if we do this? What's the best way to do this should this come down the pipe as being mandatory?
