Schedule casper share replication

With the JSS Utility gone (but not forgotten), how do we setup schedules
for the Casper Share replication to ensure our servers are all kept up
to date?

I upgraded my existing JSS from Capser 8.1 to Casper 8.2.1 and have the same
question as you.

The good news is that it appears to be replicating. I assume the scheduled
tasks that was there before are still running. But now I don't see any way
to modify the schedule.

In the /Library/JSS/bin there is a java app called JSSDatabseUtil.jar it lets you schedule in there.

I've setup a few Synchronize Pro X scripts to sync my master distribution point to the others. We only have three total right now so that keeps it fairly simple to manage and it seems to be working fine.

That app is useful in scheduling the backups, though it does not provide scheduling for secondary distribution points. That capability has to still be somewhere, I would think.

Allegedly.. There is a new jss util being released sometime.

I asked support the same questions and this is what I got:

To setup Rsync we can run the following:

On the child/secondary distribution point: /usr/bin/rsync -avrpogz --delete
-e ssh <source> <target>

Where <source> is the location of the master, and <target> is the location
on the secondary distribution point, such as:
/usr/bin/rsync -avrpogz --delete -e ssh user at jss.company.com:"/Shared
Items/CasperShare/" "/Shared Items/CasperShare/"

If we need to manually create the public key for the child distribution
point, we can follow the following procedure:
1) Run the following command in Terminal on the child server (as root):
sudo ssh-keygen -t rsa
2) Copy the following file form the child:
/var/root/id_rsa.pub
To the following location on the master:
/Users/<admin>/.ssh/authorized_keys2
where <admin> is the SSH user for the master distribution point
3) If necessary, create the '~/.ssh/authroized_keys2' file and paste the
contents of 'id_rsa.pub' into it.

I hope the utility come's back soon, but the above steps do work in the
meantime.

How about using Bombich's CarbonCopyCloner for distribution points
replication?

The new version now lets you define source and target folders
(local&remote) and - like before - creates the authentication key within a
pkg (+ email notifications and many other options if needed).
Cheers,
Carlo
