Server Specs

Would like some advice on specs for new servers. We have between 6000 & 7000 students and another 1000 staff. We are 1-to-1 K-12 with iPads K-6 and Mac laptops 7-12. Our current JSS is running on an old Mac Pro server with the MySQL database on Windows server. The Mac Pro has really been struggling since the last version of JSS. So, we are looking at getting new hardware. Does anyone have suggestions for specs for our new servers? Thanks!

We've recently moved to all linux (Ubuntu 14.04) servers for our cluster and are seeing marked improvement in stability and performance. We are running Dell 410 servers w/ dual core processors 8 gb of RAM in the 3 webapps (soon to be 16) MySQL 5.7 box is same hardware and will be at 32GB of RAM finally the Master box is same model and 32 GB of RAM.

Give you some ideas... we're also K-12 with 4500 OS X devices, 1500 iOS devices.

(1) JSS on Mac Mini i7
(1) DB on separate Linux box
(5) DP's for file distribution (all macs)
(1) Cache Server Mac Mini.

All our testing is done in VM's on a MacMini running ESXi. I can't complain about anything running from mini's.
