share thoughts on user based enrollment?

Currently we are getting a new machine, wiping it out and reloading our own os and such. I've heard rumors that theoretically it's possible to get a machine, give it to the user and they enroll it. Once that's done it loads the corporate apps that are required. is anybody doing this? how are you getting policies set and apps to push down to make it usable for their job?

My eyes were opened to this possibility last year at JNUC from Marko Jung. He even just presented at the Mac SysAdmin conference, and the documentation is posted on their site (http://docs.macsysadmin.se/2013/2013doc.html).

I am doing this with netbooting the laptop out of the box, and automatically just running a first boot script, and quick add pkg. Once it reboots, the automation takes over, and policies are scoped smartly to bootstrap the mac with what software it needs once it gets enrolled.

I do not have it set up as smoothly where we can have the laptop delivered to the end user and they can just hold down N, and go get a cup of coffee. In both his presentations Marko mentioned that Oxford has it setup that way. I am still working to get there !
