I'm trying to create a smart group for grade levels based on usernames. Could someone point me in the right direction to wildcards or anything i'd need to do it?
For example our class of 2018's usernames would be like 18MaSmith
Thanks!

You used to be able to use wildcards but not anymore I believe. So you have to get creative. After the year (i.e. 18), is the rest of the username unique and not include numbers?
That is, is it posible to have 18MaSmith1, 18MaSmith2 ? If it isn't, then you can possible do something like "username like 18" and it would grab all users with 18 in it.

It's unique after the 18, just using 18 pulls up too much - elementary iPads too for example. Though I guess I could do department is JH and username like 18 and it would work. I'd just have to set departments on everything. Guess since wildcards are removed i'll have to do that. It's a shame they removed it - they should add it back and regex support IMO.
Thanks!

We have the position populated with "student" and have a smart group based on position. Can you use that?
edit: "student" is actually tied to the Description in AD and is building abbreviation and graduation year, for example "WH2018"
