VPN Connectivity Issue after User Initiated Enrollment

Hey Nation,

Recently we deployed user initiated enrollment for all users in the company. But after that, a large group of developers are having issues with VPN connection. We are using OpenVPN. The VPN gets disconnected after every 2-3 hours and developers need to reconnect it. It is happening with GitLab, ChatGPT and some other webpages. It is affecting their daily workflow since they always need to push-pull repositories. Any idea what can be a reason behind this? Please note, we didn't put any networking restrictions on Jamf side. But WiFi profile was deployed from configuration profile.

I am clueless here as a newbie. Thanks in advance.

I suggest starting with OpenVPN support. If the client is working at all, that means your Configuration Profiles and Policies are right. There could be a configuration issue on the VPN side like a short time to live disconnecting users.

As far as Jamf Troubleshooting, you can reinstall the VPN client which probably won’t work as it seems like these are new devices. The second thing is to rebuild all your Configuration Profiles that target this application and see if that improves anything.

Good suggestion. We will try with the OpenVPN reinstallation at first. Will keep the thread up to date with new info.

It will be your OpenVPN timeout settings. They get set on the VPN server, not sure where I am not a manager for that part. But you can vary how long a connection stays live for and then needs to reconnect. I don't think the setting is in the Profile that gets pushed out to the devices.
