I am looking to setup the cloud distribution point using AWS. I need to migrate in casper admin since we have been using jamf since v8. I know in the JDS days, the packages were pulled into the jamf database for replication. Is that still the case? I just want to make sure my distribution points remain intact (with the exception of scripts) after the migration.

In my current environment we use AWS. When I got here our main DP was on-prem and I migrated it to AWS.
My recommendation would be to: Setup your AWS instance as a secondary DP, Launch JAMF Admin, and run replication to your AWS environment. Confirm everything replicated over.
Once it has completed you can make the AWS DP your master (and on-prem DP your secondary if you want to). I saw no issue what so ever doing this. As far as I can tell until the JDS packages are not passing through my DB.
That's the approach I took. I have had no issues.
Hope this helps Shaun
