No Managed Apple ID

Hello Everybody,

our School has managed IPads since 8 month. The first classes, that get devices, are provided with managed apple ids. That worked very fine, every user got an automatic ID. Now we added some additional devices, but for them no id is generated and we dont know why. All works fine, the device is registered  in apple school manager and jamf. Only the ID is missing. We have synchronised SFTP several times. Can someone help us?

Thank you!

Marius

Not sure what you're asking. The Managed Apple IDs are linked to users and not a device unless you're creating generic managed apple ids that you use for a device? You need to make sure your users are in your SFTP synchrnoisation and it will create new users with managed apple ids.

Where is the data coming from that is syncing via SFTP?  If your SIS supports direct sync with Apple School Manager, or SFTP export, that would be preferable to manually crafting the .csv files for SFTP upload.  You may also want to look into Federated Authentication as that will allow students & staff to log into their Managed Apple ID using the Azure/O365 or Google Workspace credentials that they already know.

Thanks for your Reply. You're right. I mean the user, not the device. We syncing our users via LDAP from our school system IServ. The new users are imported in JAMF, they exist an are able to login and register theyre devices.

We use aonymization in SFTP to Apple School Manager. So regulary new users get in Apple School Manager an Apple-ID like a.31@...appleid.com.  This ID we can see in JAMF in the users list. But it is missing in the new users. I think in Apple-Schoo Manager it is generated, because i can see new anoymized users in the period when the user where imported in JAMF.

Is my problem understandable now?

Thank you!

Not familiar with Jamf School but I suspect it requires something similar to what we do in Jamf Pro. It sounds like the data your seeing under users in Jamf is just the LDAP data and not the Roster (ASM) data? If this is the case then you might need to sync your ASM data to Jamf and then import the users from ASM. The import from ASM should have a criteria setup to link users from ASM to the user in Jamf if they have the same matching criter (email address for example). Ours is setup to sync once a week. Once it has been synced, you should be able to run the import and match users from ASM to the users in Jamf. This article may help:
