Job Description

This position is part of the IT department at Zoox and belongs to the IT Applications team. Zoox’s Desktop Engineer is responsible for enabling high-quality user support by providing tooling and analytics to our Client Services (Help Desk, Tier I & II) team. Ranging from providing hardware recommendations to packaging and deploying software company wide, the role is multifaceted and ever-evolving. As the company brings new technologies online, the Desktop Engineer will be responsible for enabling Client Services to support users as they adopt new applications and processes. In this role, the employee will be surrounded with exceptional peers and will be exposed to many challenging tasks with opportunities to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

  • Experience with Endpoint Management platforms - Jamf Pro, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), Canonical’s Landscape (Ubuntu)
  • Ensure Client Services has the tooling they require to support a growing user base
  • Own and improve the endpoint imaging processes for Mac, Windows and Linux
  • Configuration control of kiosk-type machines used by prototyping or manufacturing
  • Software Portal (application store) administration
  • Responsible for packaging applications to support Client Services
  • Perform operating system upgrades and workstation patching
  • Perform reporting and develop metrics to promote the health of the environment

Qualifications

  • Senior-level experience in Desktop Engineering or endpoint administration
  • Capable Mac / Windows / Linux administrator with expertise in at least one OS
  • Multiple operations system software packaging and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
  • A strong sense of shared responsibility and willingness to help others
  • Security focused mindset
  • 5+ years of related experience
