Is there a way to either delete Pre-installed Apple Apps through Jamf Pro or configure settings so that they do not install?
Hi folks, Enrolling some macs via the QuickAdd package, and while it works for 12.5.1, it fails for 12.6.2. Trying both a signed and unsigned package.Anyone else seen this behaviour yet? Package built using the latest Jamf Pro tools.Regards,Ally
Hello Jamf Nation, Looking for assistance for forcing password resets for our users who almost all have Standard User accounts. There are some exceptions in which some users have an Admin account. We are doing this to increase the complexity of passwords and the amount of characters needed.- Our current configuration profile has the old character count.- Our users are also using a static password as well (keeping static for now) How would we go about creating a policy that forces them to reset their passwords (once we've updated the config profile to include the new amount of characters needed)?
I want to make smart groups that pull user department info, that way the department determines the enrollment build. What I want is when someone from "Data Management" signs into a MacBook they will get the enrollment build custom to their software needs. Has anyone done this before?
Hello, I am trying to set desktop icons as visible with a script. I assume I can do a "defaults write ..." to some plist file to set these options, but after setting them myself while running Composer to try to see which file was edited, I was lost in plist confusion. To be clear, the settings are shown in the GUI under Finder settings (In Finder, type command comma and click the General tab) as:Hard DisksExternal DisksCDs, DVDs, and iPodsConnected Servers I would like to set those four as visible (checked) via command. Thanks for any help anyone can provide
Hello, I am having some problems with getting our Mac devices to register with Intune for compliance and Conditional Access. We are still in a phase of rolling out Jamf to our business, and we had it working at one point (with 3 devices enrolled successfully), however now we cannot get any devices to register. We have raised this with Microsoft, and with our Jamf support representative, and both seem to believe the issue lies with the other, so I'm wondering if anyone here has any advice please. For context, I have:Configured the Cloud Connector in Jamf with our Intune - this shows as connection successful - https://imgur.com/a/KS035gy Followed the documentation on Jamf here to:Download the Company Portal pkg and upload it as a Policy in JamfCreate a policy to register device with AAD with the Microsoft Device Compliance payload selected On new devices, I install the Company Portal app from Self Service first, then once installed, Install the Register device with AAD pol
I'm setting up a kiosk Mac with Mojave installed and need to remove the prompt to require a password after the screen saver begins. I would like to change the setting through a script so it doesn't have to be changed manually. I've tested a few scripts I found online but they didn't change the settings. Is anybody able to advice how to do through a script or terminal command.
Hi all,Is it possible to configure a focus for an ios device via jamf pro? I want to set a work focus to show and hide work apps.If it is possible, how does it work? Thanks and kind regards!Paul
I have been running into a couple instances where a user updates their password (Google), logs in on JAMF connect and their local account gets locked.I have run the unlock command on their account, but when they reboot, it gets locked out again. Is there a workaround that I an do so I can get my user back into their laptop? Our workforce is all remote so I don't have the luxury of getting my hands on the laptop.
When you use the erase-install package and I'm using it so the message is the full screen. When the full screen is used, does it stay up until the device restarts? I'm trying it in test mode, but the full screen only stays up for 30 sec and it goes back to the desktop. Could that be because I'm testing it? One of our issues is, when we have users kick it off using the --depnotify, they see the prompts and after the last one, some have been restarting it even though we've told them let it sit. Below is what I was testing./Library/Management/erase-install/erase-install.sh --reinstall --pkg --version=12.6.2 --min-drive-space=35 --current-user --fs --cleanup-after-use --test-run
I'm upgrading custom PDF options in both the root library and user library and need a way to delete the existing files I've come across a script working till it tries to use the user$ variable in the file path. Trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong or if there is a better way to do this. Here is the script: #!/bin/bash# Get a list of users, filtering out service accounts, root, daemon, and nobody...#users=$(dscl . list /Users | grep -v -e '_' -e 'root' -e 'daemon' -e 'nobody')# Loop through the list of users.for user in [$users]; do# Put the path to the directory in a variable.# The quotes escape the spaces.#[ $dir= ]"/Users/$user/Library/Application\\ Support/Adobe/Adobe\\ PDF/Settings"# For each $user, delete the directory if it exists.if [ -d "$dir" ]; thenrm -rf "$dir"fidone
I am trying to add a file to all of our Macs in our school system and then use JamfHelper to notify our staff that it is time to update the OS. I have the Script to run working but I would like to add our School Picture.I have tried using Composer by creating a .pkg as well as a .dmg and using the FEU option. None have worked so far.I'm trying to place the file in /Library/Application Support/JamfWhen the Policy runs I get the following error when using the .pkg:Installation failed. The installer reported: installer: Package name is XXXX XXXinstaller: Installing at base path / installer: The install failed. (The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. An unexpected error occurred while moving files to the final destination.)When I run the .dmg, the Policy runs but does not add the picture. Is there a location I can copy a .png file that all users would get it installed so I can match it up to our JamfHelper S
How do I remove pre-loaded apps from an iPad? Our iPads come pre-loaded with Pages, Keynote etc which we will not be using. Is there a way to remove them using the JSS?
Hi all. I am considering bringing up a way to better integrate Macs into our management system and wanted to check here to see if anybody had input. Currently we are using Automate and ScreenConnect for our clients as they primarily use Windows machines. However, there is a growing number of Macs entering the environment and it's not a shocker to say that Automate and SC are garbage with support and integration on macOS. I was wondering if having JAMF setup on the Mac side of things would work well in tandem with Automate. Or can it only be one or the other. Thanks.
Greetings, Looking for a current list of native macOS Ventura application bundle names. Is this list available and regularly updated?Thank you,JD
I used the force app update option to update a specific app. It worked for a few but not on all of them when I checked this morning. On most that didn’t get the update there is nothing in the completed, pending or failed commands about the app update. One one there is a message on the apps tab of the inventory that says “UpdateRejected” Any suggestions on why the force update didn’t go through?
I am new here and I just signed up with Apple Business Manager without ever having a VPP/DEP. I'm not finding a way from within Jamf Now to connect ABM with Jamf Now, has anyone figured that out yet? MyInsite
Hello everyone, I am new in Jamf and before asking for the free trial I would like to make some questions here with the hope someone will help. I will work soon in a company where 70% of the users have an Apple laptop and the 30% Windows 10. The company is new and currently, they didn’t implement an MDM solution like Intune, AD or AAD to manage user account and device. I would like to understand if using Jamf as an Apple MDM solution could allow me to manage user account such as creating a user account and pushing it remotely to the machine. Please, any help and advice will be appreciated.Thank you.
Hi,I'm running single-app mode on our iPads; using them as a display. Occasionally, the iPad loses internet connection and then show the error message "Error: The Internet Connection Appears to be Offline". I've disabled the touch screen so users are unable to clear this message until I disable single-app mode, clear the message, then re-enable single-app mode. Can I add a configuration payload that blocks this error message? Or, is there a way to automatically clear it?
Is there a process for downloading or copying all scripts that are stored in the JSS? I am creating a new JSS from scratch to be used for testing. Is there a documented way of downloading all of the scripts from a JSS and then importing to another JSS? Also, I would like to backup just the scripts on a regular basis outside of the typical JSS database backup.
I created a policy which executes the following command '/Applications/Install macOS Monterey.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall' --agreetolicense --nointeraction --forcequitapps via the Files and Processes --> Execute Command field on Macs which are capable of Monterey and do have the installer downloaded.Although the command is correct AND the Macs did the upgrade the logged result of the command is: /bin/sh: /Applications/Install macOS Monterey.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall: No such file or directory Does anybody have an idea why?It is misleading that the log shows "No such file or directory" although the command is run properly.
I've found the new Jamf App Catalog works really well for installing apps and maintaining updates, but it seems like an oversight that there isn't an easy way to automatically add the app to the dock after installing it. I've had to work around this with smart groups checking for the app, but that inevitably comes with a time delay between check-ins.Could we please add the option to add a checkbox to the app deployment settings? Thanks!
Greetings, friends! We have 52 AppleTVs deployed in our school. It looks like Jamf Pro stopped communicating with them on or about December 5th for most of them, and December 9th for one of them. The devices are functioning normally (i.e. teachers continue to AirPlay to the devices, and they are visible on the network).I'm wondering if anyone has (a) seen this happen, and (b) knows how to get them communicating with Jamf Pro again.
