I have read that iPads wont do automatic updates as long as they are in Single App mode. Can someone confirm this? We will hold test at university with those and it would be really bad, if an iPad started an OS Update during the test by some mistake. But if that is true it would not be an issue, as they are all in SAM.

Hello all, after some testing and profile creation I have started deploying Apple TVs (4K 3rd Gen - no USB-C) in my school district [28 in testing phase]. As we deployed to our schools we ran into a problem where an Apple TV decided to stop communicating with our onPrem appliance (out of 12 deployed). The device seems to work properly regarding AirPlay use, code is issued and staff can cast to it. We setup ALL apple tvs to "Conference mode" which doesnt allow access to anything, including settings [no way to reset that way] Interwebs just mentions that we are out of luck and need to call Apple support in order to reset the device. So, now we we have a door stopper that can't be reset unless Apple support gets involved. Does anyone have tips or tricks on how the apple tvs can be reset without Apple support? Maybe someone had this issue and has some information. All other school sites will follow deployment and I will hate for this issue to happen to our apple tvs at some point and the o

I have recently secured some unused iPads in our environment previously enrolled in JamfNow and wondering if it is worth enrolling them in JamfPro or just getting new devices (9th Gen or newer). Hello,   Experiencing a strange issue and was wondering if the community have seen this before. We run our users as Standard users, no admin access. We use a script to enable certain permissions, including printer management and wifi management. On a standard user account on a 2020 macbook pro, having run the following terminal commands as part of a script: /usr/bin/security authorizationdb write system.preferences.network allow /usr/bin/security authorizationdb write system.services.systemconfiguration.network allow /usr/bin/security authorizationdb write com.apple.wifi allow I am now able to "Forget" SSIDs, but it still prompts me for administrator username and password. Weirdly, you can see that it forgets the network regardless of whether I hit Cancel or put in local admin creds. Is this just a weird glitch that we'll have to deal with telling users "Just hit cancel", or is there something else I can do to fix this?

I am having issues with editing random configuration profiles in Jamf Pro.  When I click the name of the profile in the list of profiles, the details of the profile will load. When I click 'Edit' at the bottom, I just get a never ending spinning progress ring and the 'edit' page never actually loads. Has anyone else experienced this? I tried to search for the topic, but its such a generic search I couldn't find anything related to this specific thing..   

Hi all, How can I disable System Prefs -> sharing -> airplay receiver via a script? I don't really know the libraries to the point which would allow me to go and locate them. It auto turns on when the machine comes online

iPads that sit on lock screen for a few hours, go to partial sleep mode which disconnects from WiFi. The only way to connect them to WiFi is to wake it up and go to home screen. If an iPad is locked with passcode and not connected to WiFi, how will it complete the "Clear passcode" command through Jamf? There is literally no way to connect back to the internet using the same WiFi, Ethernet or Internet Sharing. In the past, people claimed that Ethernet to lightning adapters worked, but since iOS 11.4.1, USB restricted mode disabled the use of dongles at the lock screen. We have a lot of iPads for staff that are simply added to Jamf without any configuration policies applied to them. I know there is an option to enable/disable USB restricted mode under configuration policies, but the problem is that we are not applying any policies to these iPads. So by default, USB restricted mode is Enabled which prevents use of dongles while at the lock screen. The only way to solve this matter is

Hello We recently updated our Mac estate to MacsOS 15.I have noticed issues with taking screenshotsWe deploy two base profiles one for staff devices one for shared lab devices.Both have Allow screenshots and screen recording (macOS 10.14.4 or later) set under Functionality.The shortcut key just does't seem to do anything but works fine on staff devices using the same setting.I dont belive Im blocking it elsewhere.Any idea Thanks Capture a portion of the screen Press Shift-Command-4, then move the crosshair pointer to where you want to start the screenshot. iPads generally do not go home with students so there is not a need for the Jamf Parent app. I want to see if there is an easier option for teachers to have their students assign themselves iPads for better tracking and management. We use most iPads for K-1 only.  I'm curious if there is something like this, similar to Clever where students scan their badge to access the app, but in this case, they scan the iPad to assign it to themself and the data is synced into Jamf School and goes away if iPad is wiped, etc.  This would also help with our asset management API.  Thank you

Trying to set up a config profile for this new feature set. I have used Jamf's example and Apple's example as starting points, but the radio buttons for the items I have set to be managed are still able to be turned off and do not say they are managed like the Jamf apps are. Has anyone else had success in getting a config profile to work for this yet?

Hello everyone! Since 12/14/25 we have been receiving the message “The VPN client agent was unable to set up monitoring of the VPN profile files” every few seconds. It doesn't matter whether VPN is connected or not. It feels like the message only comes when you open the Finder and then you can't get rid of it. Reinstalling the same version fixes the problem. Since Friday we have activated version 5.1.7.80 for the zero touch deployment. So yesterday I activated version 5.1.6.103 again. When you connect to the VPN for the first time, the app is updated to 5.1.7.80. Today I have the first client installed with version 5.1.6.103. Since it was connected, it also automatically updated to 5.1.7.80. So it can't be my newly created 5.1.7.80 pkg. maybe it's because of macOS 15.3.1? Have you ever seen this?    

Hey guys, I really struggle on probably something easy. We are partially using the erase tool from github to update some Macs in our fleet. So the easy way is a policy with the package and the command line like /Library/Management/erase-install/erase-install.sh --version=15.4.1 --reinstall --check-power --no-timeout --min-drive-space 20 --no-fs --rebootdelay 300 --power-wait-limit 300 --cleanup-after-use   My problem is that this policy, once completed, is showing failed. So it will start again popping up on the users macs. I read about the launcher script, but it failes too. I tried with the package and without, I tried the example script given by Github and the normal version. Hows the process? I would just like to have jamf confirmed that the installation is completed. Thanks!  

New to Jamf School. Handed out new pre enrolled iPads to teachers about two weeks ago and they were all connecting to the school Wifi and working fine. Suddenly about a week ago they stopped connecting to any WiFi network...even outside of school. Any ideas if something within Jamf could be causing this? We do not have Safe School.

Hi all,  I need to create a list of applications that all the devices have installed (only Macbook).Is there any way I can do this? I know I can see the device application Log (Computer>Inventory>Search>Select computer>History>application usage logs)but I need something easier... I've recently taken over JAMF duties at my company and have been asked to enable Strict Enforcement on our Zscaler Version 4.3.1 Currently the Zscaler app is deployed and asks for a password to quit the app or to sign out but lets users browse the internet when not signed in which is what we want to remove.   - Looking at JAMF I only see a configuration policy for an expired zscaler certificate - I attempted to push a configuration policy of com.zscaler.installparams that I found in the Zscaler documentation but when I reinstalled Zscaler from scratch nothing changed - I attempted a com.zscaler.zscaler plist configuration policy push as well - Tunnel version says 1.0 inside the app - If you think of something even if it is obvious please let me know I am looking to learn   How do you enforce this at your company and is a socket filter policy needed as well? I saw that mentioned / possibly some settings on the cloud admin portal.

Is anyone able to get Groups working for privileges in Jamf Pro? I can add a group, search it via our Entra integration, but once its added, i still get access denied with the associated user im logging in with. The only way SSO will work is if i manually add each user. Jamf Support told me add the group as a standard group, matching the name 100%, which obviously still didnt work. Before i go back to support, curious if anyone here has run into something like this?
