10.8.3 and java 1.7

Has anyone else had this issue?

A new install of OS X 10.8.3 only comes with java 1.7 and not java 1.6 that the JSS requires, if you do an update from 10.8.x to 10.8.3 your ok, but if your server comes with 10.8.3 it doesnt have java 1.6.

Have tried installing 1.6 and removing 1.7 and in the command line under java -version it reports 1.6, but the JSS installer refuses to acknowledge this

Any ideas

Did this

but didnt work with the installer

10.8.3 doesn't come with Java at all. Apple is no longer including Java with the OS.

Java 7 is provided by Oracle and needs to be installed separately, though you will be prompted to download Java 7 from Oracle if you have an application that needs Java.

If this is a new install, the best course of action may be to reinstall 10.8.3, then install Java for OS X 2013-002: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572.

Installing Java for OS X 2013-002 should give you the Java 6 installation you need to install Casper.

We tried that first and it didnt work, we then installed java 7 from oracle

Then tried that link i posted to set back to 1.6 by moving it,

Terminal now says the version is 1.6, via java -version

But the JSS installer still wont recognise it and says we need java 6

I'm having the same issue.

In that case, it sounds like the JSS installer isn't recognizing the Java 6 version installed by Java for OS X 2013-002. I recommend opening a ticket with JAMF Support about that.

This happens on 10.7.5 as well but only seems to affect Casper Suite 8.64, 8.63 works fine, so must be a bug in 8.64, as my 10.7.5 server has java 1.6 and has not been updated to the latest version of 1.6 either
