What's the best method now for the 2012 hardware? Is there an easy way to pull an image file off a MBAir? There's no FireWire so TargetBoot is not an option. Not sure how else to do one.
Someone mentioned using the 10.7.5 may work, should I just update my images with that instead?

I used the method Rtrouton describes in the below article...

10.7.5 is only for developers at this point.

And so are many of us here, but I don't think anyone's going to be building a new image based on a pre-release beta. Wait until 10.7.5 is final if you're looking to do that.

or get a thunderbolt cable, and target disk mode that way

@kstrick - that seems to have worked - I'm trying to compile the image now, thank you! Had to use wireless - for some reason it wouldn't work over the TB --> Ether connector.
@nests - i just placed an order for 2 of them.
@mm2270 - it was a bit of a can I get around the issue with it until I can get a proper image working, and sometimes the dev versions end up being the actual final version anyway (happened a couple times with SL that I recall - but to your point usually only after a couple revisions).

@jwojda Someone posted a while back that the NBI can be edited, add MacBookPro9.x so they'll boot....seems to work....tested in our LAB...just not sure I'd be willing to stick my neck out. ;)

I created an "Out of Box" configuration that we use in a pinch when new hardware is released. This allows us to support new hardware same-day.
Basically, it's just a configuration (minus the base image and anything else that would already be present) that is applied to the stock OS that ships with a system. We log in, create our standard admin account, copy Casper Imaging to the desktop, and run the config.
We're using this with the current Retina Macs since I don't want to create a custom base image for the forked OS build. Between shipping delays and an expected 10.7.5 release, it's just not worth the effort.
This is one of the benefits of using a stock base image and having everything package-based rather than customizing and capturing an image.
