I tried this: sudo jssutil startTomcat but no dice.
Im starting to think Tomcat isnt installed anymore. When you check the jss
web application itt doesnt report a tomcat version. Which is why I
installed it manually by downloading the files from the apache site. Anyone
else have suggestions ?

Try both the jss util & launchctl commands.. I'm on 8.31 so no sure which
to use for lion.
