Hey guys, want my non admin users (students getting laptops) to use Time Machine and followed this post here

http://macmule.com/2010/11/18/unlock-each-secure-system-preference-allow-all-users-to-unlock/

Script

#!/bin/bash
#Backup the original authorization file
/bin/cp /etc/authorization /etc/authorization.original.backup
#Modify /etc/authorization to allow any member of the everyone group access to unlock preferences
/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set :rights:system.preferences:group everyone" /etc/authorization
/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set :rights:system.preferences:shared true" /etc/authorization

Can't seem to get this working at all

Has anyone got it working on LION?

If no, does anyone else have a solution on getting time machine working? Could you launch it via self service?

Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

Sorry haven't replied on the site yet.. But I know it works with 10.6.

Will be looking at 10.7 soon though!
