Hello guys,
I'm trying hard to complete the Jamf 100 course. I'm stuck at the practice stage requiring a Jamf Pro environment to proceed.
I have requested a Jamf Pro Demo perhaps around 5 times using the demo fill out form, but i have never received any reply from Jamf on the request. Since I'll be paying for the exam my self, having access to the Jamf Pro environment would really help.
So how did you guys complete the Jamf 100 course without any test environment?

@eurovision Are you not currently running a Jamf Pro environment in production? The Jamf training courses really expect you to have something in Production, and if that's the case your can ask your Jamf rep for a Test and Development activation code so you can spin up a test environment. If you're not already running a Jamf Pro environment then 🤞 and hope someone from Jamf sees your post and gets your Demo approved. I don't know how useful that will be as having actual experience in a live environment makes a big difference in learning about Jamf Pro, but if that's not available best of luck.

@eurovision I think if you are doing this outside a business they will not give you a demo. I paid for the Jamf 200 and then discovered you can't get Jamf setup unless you are a business. Demos are for companies not individuals. I had emails to say as much. I even asked if I could buy licenses and was told they are a business to business orgianaisation. So if you are thinking of upskilling to get a job, good luck. I was able to get a Jamf related job after the 200 but could not really practice until using a production system.

@eurovision and @geoff.widdowson Did you guys pass the 100 and 200 without the Jamf server to practice on? I am an experienced Mac admin, unemployed, with no MDM or Jamf experience, and most Mac Jobs want Jamf experience. I am pursuing the Jamf 100, and halfway through the training, I just got to the part where it says, "Sign in to a practice Jamf Pro server." But I can't access https://trainingcatalog.jamfcloud.com so I thought about getting a demo account, but Eurovision's experience suggests that won't work. I am hoping I can pass without the practice. I guess I have to study hare, put $100 in the slot machine, and hope for the best. Still better than $2500 (x3) and likely a much easier test than the 200, 300, and 400.

@user-cpbciUiCef I don't know any way to get access to a test instance for the 100 course, but the 200 and higher courses do provide a Cloud hosted test instance for you. I wouldn't recommend trying anything higher than the 200 if you don't actually have a Jamf Pro installation available for regular use. And if you are looking to complete the certs through the 400, and can arrange to do that in one year, then the Jamf Training Pass for $4500 is a much better deal than paying $2500 per course.

@user-cpbciUiCef I did pass without a test environment, however I had about 6 years of Jamf experience at the time, just had not been allowed to use it for 2 years. I passed on the 200 by just two marks (32/40), and bare in mind you do the exam the afternoon of the 3rd day of the course, so you can only revise the two nights before. In theory everything you need to pass the 200 is on the course and the exam is open book (including using the internet). I don't want to be too negative, but when jobs ask for jamf experience, that's exactly what they want, a cert is often a desirable. The job I got a had to explain in detail things I had done with Jamf, projects and deployments I had been involved with and they even gave me a written test with similar questions to the 200 exam.

Thank you, those are helpful but yes, somewhat discouraging words.

Yay! I passed! Look at that lovely badge! While it would have been easier with a real test environment, and with hands on MDM experience, it is certainly passable without. But I do have over 20 years as a Mac Specialist, and have a non-up-to-date ACMT....which I did much better on the exams for!
I studied pretty hard for 10 or 11 days. I did better on the practice test in 45 minutes than I did on the real test in 59 minutes, with an extra day of cramming.
I hope it was well worth my while. I don't think I'll go for the 200 unless hired where Jamf is used. Thanks for the advice! Now on to other certificates: Network+, Security+ and maybe more Apple Certificates.

@user-cpbciUiCef Well done. Good luck for future jobs.

Congrats on passing. I was also up a creek a few years ago when I did JAMF 100 without access to a JAMF environment. I had to memorize the course, thankfully I passed with a 90something%. JAMF really does need to rethink JAMF 100 as I would assume quite a few people looking at it would not have access to their companies JAMF instances assuming they have access to one at all.

I`m actually taking the Jamf pro 100 cert exam tomorrow! As i support the Macs and ipads on my team at work. My job has a full blown Jamf environment and our Leads at the different locations all have Jamf certs out top guy is 400 certified im familiar with jamf i just want to get the cert for personal growth ive been study for about 3 mths! the test covers mdm, jamf pro questions, payloads , CMD line, ios, licensing, applications, user groups building management and creations, exclusions , recons, volume distributions tvos set ups, all features etc. there's 53 courses and 60 test questions BUT understand that the questions on the pretest do not actually mirror the actual test! make sure to revert to the study courses on you tube and take notes! Good Luck! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CopFC6LYmg&list=PLlxHm_Px-Ie3OmPPwlFliyBKLGU_dbqtq

HI All, I am looking for Jamf 100 exam, have done ACT, ACTC and ACSP certifications with 8 yrs exp in managing Macs and iOS. Need the inputs from your experience. I see the reference links in the course, along with the youtube embedded links, want to know if I should browse through all the ref links provided or the videos are good enough to clear the exam ? How much time is expected to complete the course ? I am getting lost in scrolling through the content, I understand this knowledge will help in applying but looking actively to finish the exam.
