O365 Activation/Authentication Issue

Hey all!

We are having an issue with Office activation that is stumping us. Hoping someone else has run into it.

Upon first open of Office apps, it prompts for sign in. Users enter their email address and then get a "Loading" window. Eventually, the loading screen disappears to reveal a blank window. Occasionally, we get a 401 error saying user authentication required rather than a blank window.

We have found a "workaround" that involves nuking Microsoft keychains, removing items from Ticket Viewer, signing in to Enterprise Connect, and restarting that sometimes works - after many tries.

When it does work, we get a kerberos authentication message at which users enter their AD credentials and the activation process continues.

Any ideas on a fix? Perhaps a script we can use to get beyond this?

Sounds like a proxy auth issue. Do you bypass proxy auth for the required URLs for Office activation? Check to see if your proxy is blocking anyone of the activation URLs.

Hi rqomsiya! Thanks for the point in direction. I've reached out to our team that handles our proxies. Will keep posted!
