Office direct download Links

Microsoft Office provides links to download the latest installers from their office update history 

They're available via macadmins.software as well 

Do these links remain static?   I'd prefer to push Outlook from the cloud vs my local distro point that I'm still trying to stand up.

Yes, these links are static.

If you look at their structure, you'll see "fwlink", which stands for "forward link". That's Microsoft's term for a permalink. You'll see these fwlinks throughout a lot of their documentation and resources.

You'll also see an ID toward the end. The IDs in the links on macadmins.software each represents a product such as Office for Mac, Outlook for Mac or Remote Desktop for Mac. While the product versions will increase over the months, the fwlinks will always point to the latest version of specific products.

Turns out I don't have to start from scratch.  Tripped over this script from Github - if someone has a moment to look -

• seems the variables are 1 & 2 - but I thought Jamf reserved those and you can only pass 3 and later

Just change $1 and $2 to $4 and $5, respectively. I haven't looked closely at the script, but unless it's got some other gotchas in there, that should work.

Are your users licensed via their O365 accounts?  If so, just install the App Store versions and let MDM keep the apps up to date.

@jcarr The Mac App Store versions of the Office apps aren't really recommended if you're managing via MDM.

Look for ideas for deploying and managing Microsoft Office for Mac on Jamf's site in their video resources. Especially look for @pbowden who is a friend of Apple admins and has put together a ton of resources and ideas.

Microsoft has a GitHub repo where they have example scripts for Intune admins to curl all the top installers.  Each script has a function to install rosetta if needed, which you can remove if you already have it covered elsewhere.  https://github.com/microsoft/shell-intune-samples/tree/master/Apps
