Prestaged Enrollment ends in unmanaged inventory

Hello,

This is my first real DEP enrollment, and it seems to have worked: I bypassed the screens I wanted to bypass and got this system into inventory. Two weird things: when bootstrapping, the system sat at the "Create a Computer User Account" for 30 minutes, pinwheeling. Finally, when I got logged in and see the system in JSS inventory, I notice that it says "Unmanaged." What gives?

I've seen this before on heavily restricted Internet connections, typically at schools.

I've had a few cases where the macs took ages to get past the create account screen, with no DEP or MDM involved.

It could be worth giving it a bit of time or just restarting one of the macs to see if it updates. If not you might need to check your firewall logs to see what's not being allowed.

Update: I had a firewalling issue between the JSS and AD, which possibly contributed to the long delay, but after resolving that, I'm still having systems come up as unmanaged (after a very quick enrollment).
