Reporting Local User Account information

I would very much like to pull some reports that include the Local User Account information (specifically the UID and Admin) status.
When creating an inventory search, choosing to display Local User Accounts from the Assets tab returns nothing in the resultant search.
What’s up with that?

I hear you on this, I really do. But... you do know what the answer will be for this, don't you? Two words, starting with an "E" and an "A"?

@mm2270 is right. you need an Executive Assistant to help compile this data by hand.

Well that's just great, NOT. The data is right there, just barely out of reach, so I'll have to write a script to retrieve duplicate data. Grrrrr.

@bpavlov Lmao! Nice interpretation of the acronym. Clever! :)

@dpertschi To make my post a little more helpful, there is a way to get the data in the report (sort of), but not displayed in the JSS web UI, and maybe not how you would expect it to be. Follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you check that "Local User Accounts" box in the Assets tab.
  2. Run your report as normal and be baffled why you don't see any users show up as a column.
  3. Click Export, choose "Comma Separated Values" as the format, click Next.
  4. On this last screen, very important, click the radio button for "Local User Accounts", then Next.
  5. Your csv file will export and when it opens, voila! Your report will include a first column with a username. Each "section" will be for any Macs that include that account on them, so you'll end up likely with duplicate Macs in the list if any have more than one local account.

In the end this isn't exactly what you're looking for, since it would be nice to simply have one "User Accounts" column with any usernames in that column, so not exactly what you'd expect, but see if it gets you what you're after.

@mm2270 Well that's whack! And actually if you leave the second screen with Computers selected you do get a nice list of the user accounts, but that's it. I want some of the rest of the stuff you see in an individual record.

Another good reason I need to learn API scripting I suppose...

I feel you @dpertschi - but I was there a while back and did what the guys above posted. It's one of those things that makes you wonder...one of - there are more.
I thought it was "Enema Activation", but maybe that's just how I'm feeling today ;)

Maybe someone can answer this one - I know I've seen it mentioned before:

When you have a policy running, you get to see completed and pending. Why oh why can't you create a report on the completed and pending Macs? This is driving me nuts as the data is also "there".

@scottb Wish I had a good answer for that. I'm pretty sure someone, or many someones has asked for policy status to at least be exposed in the API, if not right in the UI interface. Its indeed frustrating we can't see that information other than manually clicking into a policy log or each individual Mac. Basically, anything that shows up for a Mac as "History" meaning under than History tab is inaccessible outside of directly in the web interface. Well, its accessible in the MySQL command line interface, but who really wants to be messing with that?

@mm2270 - thank you, and exactly. I don't and won't. But it's kinda embarrassing at times to get asked to run reports that are likely common in SCCM and I say: "well, um, um...".
Rather than some fancy new features, I'd love to see some basic stuff there for times like this.

@dpertschi Voted up, and voted up! Funnily enough, someone else posted a FR asking for the same thing as your "Provide Policy Logs" one a few hours after you did!

Ups for them both. I seem to have someone now that wants a lot more reports, so this is going to nag me a lot more.
