Safari 6.0.2 Lion Download

Hello,

I'm looking to download the latest Safari update 6.0.2 for Lion. I'd like to include that package in my configurations so that a newly setup machine is current. For 6.0.1 I was able to locate the direct download by peeking in an InstaDMG catalog but i'm not having any luck with the latest version.

thanks,
greg

I've heard of issues with the Safari 6.0.2 for Lion update. In fact, there were some rumors that Apple pulled it, but it looks like it was only related to some errors in Software Update. I do know you cannot find it on their Support downloads page, which is very rare. Usually everything that shows up in Software Update can also be found on their Downloads page, so that gives me some pause.

Personally, I'd hold up on even worrying about this update. If Apple hasn't posted it yet for download, it may not be fit for consumption.

If I remember correctly, they didn't give you a nice download link for 6.0.1 either. That's why I had to use the InstaDMG trick that I referred to.

interesting. I never bothered to look for Safari 6.0.1 Lion manually, so I wasn't aware of that. If that's the case, looks like Apple has changed its policy regarding what it posts for manual download. Perhaps its a way of trying to get people to upgrade to 10.8. Make it harder for people to find Lion updates.
Or perhaps that's just the cynic in me talking ;)

Use at your own risk --

You can "grab" the installer from /Library/Updates if you catch it on time. So - after it finishes downloading, and before it finishes installing.

Excellent! Thanks Todd. When I googled "safari6.0.2lion" all smushed together it led me to this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19014805#19014805

on the second page a fine gentleman named Joel Bruner described a way to find the download URLs for future releases. See below for the terminal command that he talks about:

curl $(strings /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SoftwareUpdate.framework/SoftwareUpdate | grep http://swscan) | grep Safari6
