Script to update flash in the background

Good Evening!

Is there any chance someone could point me in the direction of a script that would install and update Flash automatically without any user interaction?

Would I run this script as 'ongoing' and recurring check in?

Thank you for your help :)

I've moved away from using such automatic update scripts myself. I used to think this was a good idea, and in some cases it might still be valid, but now I tend to use regular packages and policies or patch policies.
Anyway, have you done any searches here for such a script, because I know for a fact there are several ones posted here that do this. So you should be able to pull up something.

As for frequency, you would only have it run ongoing with recurring check-in IF the script checks the installed version vs the current release before taking any other action. You definitely don't want to do that if the script just downloads and installs the latest version without doing a version check. You'd be reinstalling Flash across your fleet all day long like that!

Thank you mm2270.

I appreciate the heads up - Very new to JAMF, so I apologise for not searching.
I pushed out Flash across the board, but I found it would produce a horrid popup prompting the users to download or to remind them later. I'd love to do what you're doing but I can't find a method of patching in the background... Drats!

@glasgowclyde Are you using the Flash installer that's designed to be deployed via a management system like Jamf Pro? That is not the version you acquire from the public Adobe web site, and will install without any indication to the user. I don't have a system with the link handy at the moment, but googling "redistributable flash installer" should put you on the right path.

@glasgowclyde If you want to control Flash update installation on your Macs rather than allowing the default automatic update, take a look for a post here on Jamf Nation from @donmontalvo about the settings for the Flash preferences .plist
