Silverlight and JSS 9.22

I just did a fresh install of 9.22 to transition from an old server and due to a large mac mini purchase and Im having issue with the latest Silverlight. I downloaded the standard dmg that is available on the silverlight site and uploaded the pkg file into Casper Admin like I usually do. This time, it renamed it to Silverlight.pkg.zip. Any clue why? This is one of the few packages that Ive downloaded that I can right click and open package contents, so Im assuming that this is a cause for the issue. Does this need to be added into composer and re-saved as a pkg file? No clue what to do here.

susqcyber, that's the default behavior in JSS V9 with non-flat packages.

Is there anything that can be done besides installing the package within a composer session?

Hallo Susqcyber, take a look at this website http://sivel.net/2013/01/manually-install-silverlight-on-mac/

You can flatten the package before adding it to your JSS, if the .zip bothers you, but honestly you don't need to do anything except deploy it. Have you tried deploying the package to your machines? It should still deploy.

If you want to flatten the package first, look at using the pkgutil utility to do so:

https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man1/pkgutil.1.html

I would test deploying Silverlight as is in your JSS, to a machine or two using either Casper Remote or a policy in the JSS. I bet you'll find it deploys fine and you won't need Composer or pkgutil at all.
