I'm looking into standing up a SUS at each of our Mac-heavy sites and sending clients at other sites to Apple's SUS, but with the way the JSS is set up I am not comfortable letting it handle that sort of logic. We have a ton of network segments (400+) and it would be a nightmare to manage them reliably for something that would see so much traffic, and I have seen several instances where a system has been directed to the previous network segment's DP after a user travels to a new location.
Has anyone configured a load balancer to direct SUS requests internally and externally? Are there any "features" of Apple's softwareupdate service that would cause problems?
