Hi everyone -
We're looking for some quick feedback about who is still using RSS on JAMF Nation. Since Google Reader was discontinued on July 1, 2013, we have seen a significant decline in RSS usage. Because of this we been discussing the possibility of removing RSS feeds from JAMF Nation all together.
So, who is using RSS? What other ways do you like to consume content?

I pretty much do manual checking of the site and monitor emails. I get each message individually as opposed to a digest. I honestly didn't even know there was an RSS feed, but probably wouldn't have used it anyway.

Hi Jake,
I don't use RSS, but in terms of how I consume content, I use the email options under my profile and subscribe to everything to a separate email address. This allows me to read through all post subject lines quickly when time permits to see if anything is relevant to me and respond through the site if need be with link in the email.
Sometimes when I'm working on something later, I remember 'I think I saw something on jamfnation about that' and refer back to it because I had previously read the subject lines.
I think it's a great way to consume jamfnation, it also allows me another way to search for posts (though usually just googling terms with jamfnation works just as well).
Not sure if most others are doing the same thing, but I found it to be the only way to keep up with stuff here.

I didn't even know RSS was an option. I use feedly.com for my RSS reader, so there's still options out there.
And it looks like there are 26 other Jamfnation users who use feedly.com to follow the RSS feed.

I still use it, but do find myself checking manually more often so wouldn't be too upset if it went away.

For those that are using RSS, I would recommend subscribing to the email notifications and setting up a server side mail rule (or gmail filter) to collect things in a subfolder. It makes reading threads very easy.

I use it with RSS over Feedbin because I already get enough email and so it's nice to have this in a separate channel that I can also just skip on certain days.
What would be the reason to remove it? I can't imagine that there are huge costs involved with having a RSS feed available.

I use the RSS feed with Newsblur. I prefer getting it through RSS. I'd rather be using Google Reader though. :-(

Yes same for me. I like having a separate app / location to get this type of traffic that breaks it away from email.

I also use the RSS, using a desktop app called RSSOwl (mostly because I subscribe to a lot of other feeds too). I prefer to receive most of my news/updates this way, but it sounds like I'm a dying breed?

I use the RSS via Innoreader... an aggregator that plays friendly with FlipBoard where I ultimately see the articles mixed in with other Mac oriented feeds. Just sayin.

So did this get switched off in the end? It seems the feed is no longer available from

Yes, it seems to me that they switched it off. I was still waiting for Jake's answer to my statement from above:
What would be the reason to remove it? I can't imagine that there are huge costs involved with having a RSS feed available.

I'm disappointed that the RSS feed isn't working any longer. I sure hope it's a technical glitch and that it will be back. It would be nice to hear from JAMF about this though.

I like RSS.

I was using the free version Feedly to check the RSS feed for JAMF Nation. I'll be disappointed if it was turned off.

If you're as disappointed as I am about the RSS feed being discontinued, please go over and vote up my feature request (https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/featureRequest.html?id=3268) to have it brought back.
