Does any one know how I can package this in Casper to stop it from prompting the user to agree to the EULA and if they wish to make Reader the default PDF viewer? I have tried taking a snapshot with these setting already picked but it still seems to ask the user. Also I have also tried the Adobe Customization Wizard XI however on the Mac it only appears to be for Adobe Acrobat, not Reader. It always prompts for a serial code. Any other suggestions?

A week or 2 ago I added a 10.8 Netboot to our imaging options. Today, I realized one of our servers was out of space. Looks like the shadow files created from the 10.8 Netboot set are huge - over 1.5 gigs each. With our 10.7x Netboots, shadow files were under 200MB. Any suggestions? I used the following 2 articles to set up 10.8.2 Netboot. I'm configuring a new instance of Casper at another office location, similar to the one I'm already running at HQ. Problem I've got is that the machine being imaged never finishes up behind the jamfHelper full screen lock. Looking at the clients jamf.log, the last entry is 'Deleting home directory for adobe install...' Subsequent reboots sends it right back to the full screen block also. EDIT: and then after letting it sit like that for a few hours the jamf.log did move on to 'Checking for policies...'. So why so damn slow.... Casper 8.6, 10.7.5 image

General query on Linux JSS 8.62. Anyone else have random spontaneous loss of a mac's department and/or building configuration? If so, what did you find it was? A quick check of our database shows nothing wrong.

Hi All, I'm seeing on a baseline image we have of 10.8.2 a strange issue. After building the image and removing the waste, any user I log into is missing the Finder Menu bar. Either re-starting Finder or opening another Application fixes it. Any one else see this?

I can see that you can pull the OS Build version by running "sw_vers -BuildVersion" from Terminal. I would like to gather the output of this or all the info from "sw_vers" as an extension attribute to build smart groups on. What would be the best way to get this into extension attributes? I see you can build it via a script but still getting into OS X scripting and any help would be appreciated.

All,When a new OS X machine does a web URL enrollment via the JSS and runs the Quickadd.pkg, is there a way to instantly run a policy? Currently the only options I see are: logout, login, 15 trigger. I really don't want the end user to have to perform a logout or login and not wait 15 minutes for the policy to execute. Any insight or help would be appreciated. thanks

Hi gang, I was an early and successful adopter of Adobe's AUSST tool back in the 1.0 days and had it up and running here no problems. Now, we're looking to recapture the magic from scratch. So I'm setting it up on our Lion server (10.7.5) and not migrating data from the earlier version. Web Serving is already turned on and working (we're also hosting reposado successfully) and I've tried creating both local and SAN-based directories to house the Adobe updates and making sure we have web serving permissions routed to those directories. No love. Hello JAMFers, So I am curious if anyone has any experience with running commands from a policy. Basically, my employers have requested I have a video download locally to all managed clients, and have them auto-play the video on a certain day of the week until the end of February. Making the policy to get the video on everyones machine was easy enough, but I am having inconsistent results with the policy I created to run the video. The command I am using is: osascript -e 'tell application "QuickTime Player" to open "Macintosh HD:System:TAX_Center_2013.mp4"' -e 'tell application "QuickTime Player" to play document 1' The weird part is if I run this command manually from terminal, it plays the video every time without fail, but when the JSS tries to run the command, I am getting an error I am unfamiliar with. I was puzzled as to why spotlight no longer worked on newly imaged machines. After a little digging I found that they all had a .metadata_never_index file at the base of the root directory. This file is put on the disk after imaging during the "Set Name to xxxxx" task. Has anyone got any ideas why this might be happening? Currently working around this by scripting the removal of this file at first boot. Cheers Matt

Hey all: Completely new to the scene so forgive my ignorance. Right now I'm just trying to build a few configurations (Casper Admin) for imaging new machines. We need Java 7 update 11. I've downloaded the dmg from Oracle's site and done snapshots in Composer to create a dmg package. I upload this into Casper Admin, etc. But when I'm imaging this test machine, all the applications get installed but Java 7 update 11. There's no Java preference pane in System Preferences, and I'm getting Missing Plugin messages in a browser. I've tried with just a base OS and only the Java plugin, but still no go. I assume I'm missing something obvious. Any ideas?

Anyone know how I can enroll a Mac OS 10.3.9 computer into Casper 8.62? I've tried the Quickadd package, I've tried Recon, nothing seems to work. Recon gives a Connection Error: "A connection error occurred: jamf binary failed to install."

I recently purchased Winclone Pro 3.7 to help with deploying dual-boot labs with the Casper Suite, but I am having a problem restoring the Winclone image. Here are the steps I use to create the image:0) Partition the HDD with 3 partitions: Macintosh HD, Data Disk, Bootcamp (I remove the recovery drive so Bootcamp is disk0s4)1) Configure my Windows image on the Bootcamp partition2) Reboot to Macintosh HD3) Use Winclone to create an image of the Bootcamp partition4) Winclone -> Tools -> Make Self Extracting5) Upload the .winclone image to Casper Admin6) Double-click on a configuration in Casper Admin and make sure the three partitions are listed there7) Double-click on the Bootcamp partition and choose to install the .winclone image (ticking re-image this partition)8) Save changes, then netboot a machine and install the configuration Everything seems to install fine, but when the machine reboots out of the net boot, it just boots to a white screen and instead of the Apple logo the

Our 10.6 clients have a separate partition that we push the user's home folder to. Since upgrading to JSS 8.62, we've found that policies that use the "Fill Existing Users" option no longer update the home folders not on the startup partition (worked fine in JSS 8.4). I'm wondering if there's a new JSS setting I've missed. Any thoughts would be appreciated... thanks!

Hi guys My colleague and myself aregoing to an event in December about Adobe Creative Cloud. From what I gather for an enterprise, sales peeps are going to try and sell me Creative Cloud Team Ready. Its for existing TLP customers (were clp!!!) To instead sign up to Creative Cloud Team Ready to pay for licensing on a monthly basis, reassigning licenses, access to new software and cloud storage and sharing resources. Does anyone know anything about this? From what I see so far its management seeing the word "Cloud" and start wetting themselves with excitment of this current buzz word when.... I have CLP I have AAMEE I have AUSST I have RUM If Creative Cloud Ready doesn't work for the above 4 main Enterprise Adobe administration tools, why should I bother convince managment of this licensing option regardless of "cloud"

How would you go about finding out why casper is only reporting: Boot Partition Encrypted vs All Partitions Encrypted, when I go into the inventory, I only see one drive and it says 100% encrypted.

All it's trying to do is to see if the department and building settings are correctly configured. (Our JSS occasionally doesn't configure these fields properly via prestage imaging.) If they are, it skips a section of code that would give a menu choice. We seem to be running into an issue where none of our profiles will deploy. I'm fairly certain that it revolves around some sort of database issue, but we haven't been able to determine the cause. I'm fairly certain if i restore our database to last nights backup, profiles will deploy. I just made a blank profile to see if even it would deploy and its stuck in pending status. All polices are applying as they should. Hey all, I'm running a single OS X based 8.6 JSS with the MySQL database hosted on another OS X server. We will eventually be clustering this JSS with 2 additional OS X JSS boxes. Today the users connect direct, but will eventually be load balanced, but we have to go thru a complicated internal auditing process before we do so., For now we are stuck with the standalone JSS . we have about 1100 Macs connecting to this single JSS, and while i know thats a lot, things are running fairly smooth with the exception of of the JSS web app becoming unresponsive when we try to get Hardware/Software history in Details on an enrolled Mac. When this happens, all requests to the JSS webapp just hangs. Other Casper apps seem to work, just slowly. attempts to restart Tomcat via command line (locally or over ARD) do not work, and eventually we have to reboot the JSS. Once this is done, everything is working again for a few days or until someone clicks the HW/SW History link. Load balan

Hey all, Having an issue with a restrictions config profile. The config profile has a restriction set to block access to the Profiles preference pane. However it's also blocking access to all the of third party preference panes, i.e, Wacom, etc. Nothing is checked off in the config to make this occur. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Thanks!
