I am hoping to help my IT Department roll out JAMF in the next week or two (and for the users to be able to set up devices for themselves as much as possible). One enourmous hurdle for our users will be the fact Outlook Contact sync has be enabled manuallySettings (inside Outlook) > Office 365 > Save ContactsIs there any way that this can be scripted by JAMF to be in the 'on' position automatically? The iOS version on the devices will be 15.3.1 (at the very least).Regards,William

We have a couple of users where their logon isn't working when they're attempting to enroll their devices. We have it configured where once the user selects their wifi/lan connection, it'll prompt for their email and password and will continue and then prompt for their azure logon info. They can't get past the initial logon. They're setup like everybody else and we've actually reset the password for one of them I even typed it in, but it take it. For testing, we enrolled them with a different account just to make sure the Mac was good. Has anybody come across this before? Thanks in advance

Hi All, Just wondering if it's possible to package the Composer App using Composer? I want this to be available to the other admins without having to bounce the download link and install?Would they have to install the Jamf Pro package? Or can they only have access to the Composer app? Any / All help & advice would be greatly appreciated.(I'm new to this and learning as I go!)

Hello all, When a new user account is created in the process of a new user signing into a Mac via Jamf Connect for the first time, I'd like it to trigger a policy in Jamf to set the dock layout.Anyone have an idea of how to have a new user account trigger this?  I am already supposing that in policy I would set trigger as a custom event. Thanks

I bought an old 2016 macbook. I checked it for itunes lock or any other indication that it was stolen but there were no immediate red flags. I brought it home and tried to wipe/install OSX and now the keyboard is flashing and asking me to enroll at some company... What are my options here ?

What a good feature this Smart Groups Dependency Reporting ! Do you think it'll be possible to implement the same for the statics groups ?

Hi all, Is it feasible to have individual policies that install cached installation files of programs that then will be queued off and installed via a global policy that checks in to install all cached policies on devices?Currently, I run two policies per installation package. One policy will install a cached version of the package onto the target machine. The second policy will simply install the cached package from the previously run policy, in files and processes I've configured a terminal callout to that previous one as well.I'm hoping for the following:For example, if I create a single policy that just installed the cached installer for a program then another maintenance policy would run which would trigger the install for all these programs. Is this possible? I'd like to do this on a monthly cadence.

Hello Everyone, I am new to Jamf, I like to know how I am able to update the User and Location (FullName and Username) from the mobile device. I know that I can do it from the macOS using the terminal command Jamf recon but cannot pinpoint the exact solution for mobile devices.Thank you in advance

Hello all,A user is having an issue with the sounds that play every time he gets a notification. When he goes to System Preferences -> Notification -> Self Service, he is not able to untick the box. In Jamf Pro, I don't see any settings in Jamf to specifically allow him to turn it off.How would I go about this?

For unknown reasons, I am not able to create new projects or open anything in Garageband. Could anyone suggest a working solution? I tried to reboot the app - but same results.

My company has decided to use jamf pro to manage the small set of Apple users. One of the goals is sync apple users passwords with AAD. Currently I am trying to configure jamf connect, while the basic configuration works, the jamf authentication and local account migration is very inconsistent from Mac to Mac. The configuration would has users login through an azure login window instead of the normal apple login window then creates a new account or connects the existing account. However either the local account I configured in jamf doesn't work (it freezes the mac) or the migration doesn't apply at all.Have anyone had these issues? If so any advice? Or should I do basic setup with the jamf connect app to sync the passwords and avoid the migration issues.

This might be an easy one:  Can jamf policies install 2 related packages from a single policy? If yes, how would I enforce which one gets installed first?Specific scenario information: I'm installing Sony Image Edge/Sony Image Desktop, which is downloaded as a single pkg file. once installed, the app tells you to download another pkg file using a download button from inside the app. that pkg file is installed manually as well.I'd like to have a single policy that installs the base pkg, then the secondary pkg.  is that possible?

HI guys after installing Jamf Connect, and logging in everything is fineHowever after the restart the user has to do MFA which works fine, the laptop proceeds starting up, I get the "reticulating splines again" windowdepnotify is not installed and laptop is on a network cable . Who has a solution for this? thnx in advance

Hello Everyone, Im testing out a mac mini M1 with big sur 11.2.1 for the first time and i noticed something new happening which i never saw before with my Intel mac mini's (Running both Catalina and Big Sur). As soon as i enroll the mac mini, manually, into my Jamf Pro instance im getting disconnected from ARD, only SSH works, and the Preference Pane for Remote Management now show's a new message that "Screen Sharing is managed", and i cant connect anymore to Remote Management. Has anyone tackled this issue before? I did open a case with Jamf but im trying to see if anyone has seen this happen before and maybe can give me a solution. Im attaching screenshots. Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone, Before I get started, I just want to say that I am taking over our macOS environment as a primary Windows admin. With that said, I have pretty good knowledge about JAMF and the macOS ecosystem. Now that we have that cleared up, any help going forward, I truly appreciate it. Whenever I had to deploy software in the past, I would use the free Packages app from WhiteBox by installing my application as is, and then simply dragging the .app file from /Applications to the Packages icon in the dock. From there, Packages would create the .pkg file, and I upload that file via JAMF admin to create a policy in JAMF Pro. Pretty straightforward. We are getting ready to deploy MATLAB, and we've done the same thing for 2020 and 2021. However, for 2022, that process is not working. I have the full 12GB .dmg installer. I install MATLAB using their native GUI, enter in my FIK,  select all of the toolboxes, and then install it. The final .app file size is 22GB. I tr

We want to upload Xcode (packaged and 14GB in sixe) as part of our Patching Policy and wondering if there is a limit on the size of the PKG you can upload to Jamf Pro (cloud based instance).I've found a few posts in the past on this issue but never a concrete answer....Also, does anyone know the total amount of storage you can use with an instance of Jamf Pro? I'd like to know as we have quite a few PKG's on there already that are fairly large.

I have been trying to sus out what is calling Python2(deprecated path) in my deployment workflow as we now get the JAMF Agent error that many others are seeing.  I have finally narrowed it down as to where it is...yet no idea how to correct it.  it looks like the script for calling/configuring DEP Notify that was supplied a while back has one single python call to get the current user:# After the Apple Setup completed. Now safe to grab the current user. CURRENT_USER=$(/usr/bin/python -c 'from SystemConfiguration import SCDynamicStoreCopyConsoleUser; import sys; username = (SCDynamicStoreCopyConsoleUser(None, None, None) or [None])[0]; username = [username,""][username in [u"loginwindow", None, u""]]; sys.stdout.write(username + "\\n");') echo "$(date "+%a %h %d %H:%M:%S"): Current user set to $CURRENT_USER." >> "$DEP_NOTIFY_DEBUG"Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to correct/change this bit?  I've tried a few things and keep getting errors,

I created 6 smart groups for devices missing specific software. I then created 6 Policies and set the scrope to the smart groups. These are all updating via Installomator script. We have an office in San Diego and Fort Mill, SC. I set the client side limitation to not install from 5am-8pm and checked the days I don't want the software to install hoping the deployments would kickoff after 8pm local time. Prior to that, all of my testing with client-side worked with individual devices. Is it possible, I had too many deployments set? It was 6 updates on 21 Mac's. I just did a test with just deploying to one smart group with client side configured and it went through.

Hello,I'm trying my first go with pushing apps to iOS managed devices that are enrolled in ABM.   The device shows up fine there, and I see the device managed properly in Jamf.   I'm trying to automatically install Jamf Self Service app to all mobile devices so users can install apps themselves after I make them available, and I followed the instructions here:https://docs.jamf.com/10.25.0/jamf-pro/administrator-guide/Jamf_Self_Service_for_iOS.htmlWhen I check the device install status, I'm seeing  the failed install with "The MDM request is invalid". It provides me no other details.  Feels like I"m missing a step or something.  Can anyone point me in the right directly?

Upgraded from Casper 9.62 to 9.65, but started experiencing trouble when running recon via terminal. Anyone else run into this? "Device Signature Error - A Valid device signature is required to perform the action.

First launch of VLC tosses up a dialog box to Enable Metadata Retrieval: Apparently our FOSS buddies decided it is a good idea to hide this setting in a User level non standard preference locations (ala our buddies at Adobe) /Users/username/Library/Preferences/org.videolan.vlc/vlcrc. If user selects No, Thanks, this value is set in the file: # Allow metadata network access (boolean) #metadata-network-access=0 If the user slects Enable Metadata Retrieval, this value is set in the file: # Allow metadata network access (boolean) metadata-network-access=1 Is there a programatic way to check/confirm this setting in /Users/username/Library/Preferences/org.videolan.vlc/vlcrc to ensure it is set to #metadata-network-access=0? We can loop whatever command works, through all user directories and the User Template, unfortunately since defaults isn't used, haven't had luck finding the right command. To tie loose ends, since I didn't find any other VLC discussions... The other standard s

I found where to change the timezone to EST, under my preferences, but if I change it will it change it for the server or just under my account? Trying to deploy 3rd party updates and want to use server-side limitations and it would easier if it was EST.

Hi Everyone,Bit of a niche question here.  We are currently using DEPNotify to pre install applications and settings to Mac's which are company owned, as well as improve the end user onboarding experience. We currently also use Jamf Connect which gets the user to sign in using their AzureAD creds and sync a local password to the Mac.  Directly after that, DEPNotify kicks in and begins installing software, plists and configs.  The user is not prompted, to setup their Touch ID, or their iCloud account. Is there a way of getting DEPNotify to invoke this from Setup Assistant?  Or maybe doing a partial Setup Assistant with certain screens like the Touch ID, iCloud Setup, Apple Pay etc?
