Something has changed again. I go to download the new 10.37 client and my choices are Linux, Windows, Manual and Jamf Pro Apps. Which one do I download for the Mac?

Hello,I noticed that the inventory was not done on computers with MAMP installed.When I do a "jamf recon -verbose", the inventory hangs completely and I think that it is the /Applications/MAMP/ folder that is causing the problem and not the MAMP.app application.Have you seen this issue before and do you know how to work around this behavior?Thank you for your help

So we have a nice tool to looks at packages for scripts that might have deprecated languages in them (see https://github.com/scriptingosx/pkgcheck).  Has anyone created something to look at the first line of all the scripts in the JSS and report ?  I am guessing would have to use the JAMF API, to get <script_contents>, then match on the first line like in pkgcheck.  Anyone working on this?

Hello all,we have the problem that some of our users when they received their new device, want to import a TimeMachine backup from their old device and do it with the help of apples Migration Assistant. After the successful transfer, the device no longer connects to Jamf and displays the following error:There was an error.Device Signature Error - A valid device signature is required to perform the action.Only a "sudo jamf -enroll -prompt" helps but for this I have to know as admin that the error exists. Does anyone have an idea to work around this problem? The affected devices do not check in anymore and do not update the inventory either.

Hey Everybody,I'm not seeing the option in the classic API, or maybe I'm missing the obvious, but is it possible to either get all the groups for a specific site, or query what site a group belongs to?  The default query grabs everything, but I'm only interested in groups for a specific site.jamfGroupArray+=($(curl -sX GET -H "accept: application/xml" -H "Authorization: Bearer ${jssAuth}" "${jssURL}/JSSResource/mobiledevicegroups"))Thanks again!

Hello,Since we implemented Jamf Connect (Azure AD authentication) on our Macs, we noticed that the check-in was no longer done when the computer was on but logged off.Do you know if this is normal?Thank you

Greetings all,I have a script (I did not create this) to allow techs to manually set the Mac computer, localhost, and host names that runs as part of a policy.  Until OS 12.3 came out, it worked just fine.  This is the script:#!/bin/zshdefaults=/usr/bin/defaultsCurrentUser=$(python -c 'from SystemConfiguration import SCDynamicStoreCopyConsoleUser; import sys; username = (SCDynamicStoreCopyConsoleUser(None, None, None) or [None])[0]; username = [username,""][username in [u"loginwindow", None, u""]]; sys.stdout.write(username + "\\n");')MacName=$(sudo -u "$CurrentUser" /usr/bin/osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to set MacName to text returned of (display dialog "Enter the new Computer Name:" buttons "Continue" default button "Continue" default answer "" with icon 1)')scutil --set ComputerName "$MacName"scutil --set HostName "$MacName"scutil --set LocalHostName "$MacName"defaults write /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.smb.server NetBIOSName -string

I’m working on scoping a project for a new co-op. This space will have 20 macOS devices in a lab and 6 editing bays with new Mac Studio devices. I’m looking for a way to “refresh” these devices nightly where changes made on the devices would be wiped and restored to the standard config. I would want to manage patches for applications on the base image only. Is it possible to do this fully with JAMF Pro or will I need other tools as well?

I found this script for collection whether Location Services is enabled, but it's for OSX. I'm super new to Macs as well as scripting, so I'm wondering what would need to be updated to get it working for Big Sur. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><extensionAttribute><displayName>Location Services</displayName><description/><dataType>string</dataType><scriptContentsMac>#!/bin/bash

uuid=$(system_profiler SPHardwareDataType | grep "Hardware UUID" | awk '{print $3}')
domain="/var/db/locationd/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.locationd.${uuid}"
plist="${domain}.plist"

if [[ -f "${plist}" ]]
then
 status=$(defaults read "${domain}" LocationServicesEnabled)
 if [[ "${status}" == "1" ]]
 then
 result="Enabled"&#1

We just switched over to Jamf PRO enterprise and I'm trying to figure out a better way to count my users so i dont have to go line by line. Has anyone looked at this yet?

Hello, I am new to Jamf and configuring our new environment for Macs.I encountered the problem that I tried deleting a managed Macbook using a management command. Then I hat it installed normally again with the PreStage Enrollment. But now the status is that there hasn't been a check-in since it was deleted. There are also no management commands available. Did I forget something after PreStage Enrollment? Best regards,Felix

Is there a way to include text in a self service policy description that does not bold or italicize? I'm trying to include a serial number that has asterisks in a few places, and it is removing them and truncating the asterisks thinking I'm trying to use HTML Markdown https://docs.jamf.com/technical-articles/Using_Markdown_to_Format_Text.html - is there anyway to prevent that? (e.g. "123*456*789" becomes "123456789")

Hi there - is anyone else getting  PKG BUILD FAILED when using Composer?any way to resolve this?

Hi, I noticed that some of my Microsoft Defender clients weren't updating on their own. I attempted to run the following from Jamf Remote as well as a policy from Jamf and it just hangs on the devices. /Library/Application\\ Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0/Microsoft\\ AutoUpdate.app/Contents/MacOS/./msupdate --list/Library/Application\\ Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0/Microsoft\\ AutoUpdate.app/Contents/MacOS/./msupdate --installI am able to remote in to one of the devices and run the commands manually and they do work. I have to run --list on the machine first or it doesn't see any updates as being availalble.Does anyone have any tips to get msupdate to work from Jamf?

I'm trying to run JAMF imaging on Big Sur to image a new Mac but JAMF imaging can not start up and give me an error message."An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down" The version of my JAMF imaging is newest, the Big Sur version is 11.2. Does anyone have solution to solve this?

Our graphic desiggn instructor would like some swatches installed so they can be used within Illustrator. I have found the location on where they need to be installed, but can't get it working with Jamf. The location needs to be in Applications\\Illustrator\\presets\\en-us\\swatchesThere is a folder with about 7 files that need to go in the above location. I put the files in that location and used composer to get them packaged and put the package in JSS Self Service. I then tried to install them from Self Service on another Mac and it did not work. In composer, I made the folder that has the seven files use root and wheel and gave owner\\group\\everyone r\\w\\x rights.

Just wanted to reach out if anybody is experiencing Add Printers not working on Jamf Admin running on macOS 10.13.4? I tried installing the Jamf Admin on macOS 10.12 and Add Printers is working over there. Thanks in advance.

So hopefully we all know about;PI103977 - PI-009975 Jamf Pro startup can be suspended if an invalid file path is specified for the Change Management logs.This isn't about that.. I have change management logs setup although Jamf isn't writing to the log file. If I view: Settings - System Settings - Change Management - Logs, in browser there's 5,000+ events;Although there's nothing being written in;/usr/local/jss/logs/JAMFChangeManagement.logSo I backed up and gave the logs folder a;sudo rm -rf /usr/local/jss/logsThen re-installed Jamf-Pro, all other logs are working as expected.Just wondered if anyone else is seeing this as I couldn't find anything related in known-issues.Also on another note, when searching the community for "JAMFChangeManagement.log" I see this;

Are Jamf Pro Extension Attribute Templates something we can modify locally? If so, where and how? Thanks!

I think that I am missing something in this process. Would someone be so kind as to outline the steps to take a directory (folder with subfolders) to a pkg in Composer and then copy from Jamf/tmp to /tmp? I did include a postinstall script to copy the directory from Jamf/tmp to /tmp, but the pkg is getting an error: The upgrade failed. (The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. The package is attempting to install content to the system volume.)I made sure to set root and wheel to all contents. Please link me if this exists. I more or less am looking for a checklist of sorts. I tried documentation and the manuals, but I am missing a step still in the distribution in Jamf Pro. I fail on install each time.

I'm new to Jamf, so I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to do something that should be pretty simple.I work at a college.  We have computer labs with iMacs.  Some professors require students to use some Windows-only software, so I created a virtual Windows computer that people can connect to from an iMac.  They get to the virtual computer via a web browser.  I've been asked to put a shortcut to that website on the iMac desktops so that a user can log on to the iMac, double-click the icon on the desktop, and get to the virtual Windows computer.How do I use Jamf Pro to push the shortcut to the lab iMacs in such a way that each user will have that shortcut when they use their individual Active Directory (AD) credentials to log on to the iMac?  I know how to create the icon that they will click on, but not where to put it so that each user will have it on their desktop or how to put it in that location with Jamf.Thanks in advance for your help.  --Je

Hi,This is probably really stupid, but when I open my mac, the login screen that is presented is the default mac screen unlock. Is it possible for JAMF Connect to be the pause/resume authentication screen?

 I’m trying to find the best method to allow pop-ups from sites in Google Chrome. I tried defaults write com.google.chrome DefaultPopupsSetting –integer 1 but nothing happens.  My google fu is failing me beyond this. Any help appreciated. Also, if there is a way to do this with a Jamf Config profile that would be great. I just can’t find it.Thank you

I just update some iMacs to Big Sur and I am having trouble pushing a new local account to the computer. I have wiped them and reloaded from scratch and still nothing. I also renewed the MDM profile. Also Deleted the .applesetupdone file. I thought it was my payload so I deleted it an recreated a new config policy. The Admin account works fine but the Standard user doesn't login or doesn't get created. Anyone had issues like this?
