i've met greg. he's a nice guy, but he's involved with munki, not casper. i suggest you catch up on their mailing list instead: http://groups.google.com/group/munki-dev/topics
i think it would be helpful for people on the casper list to look outside the mac realm for solutions.

Greg and the Mac dude from Google wrote this book which came out last summer. Probably a good read for all sys admins out there.

true, but one of the problems i've found with the mac admin community is a certain level of myopia that leads to lots of needless wheel reinvention.
there's a huge body of new and old resources that have traditionally grown with other *nix platforms but will work just as easily with os x.
but i digress… not germane to this thread.
