upvote if you agree, i think this would be a great place to add notes for other admins, troubleshooting steps that have been taken in the past, etc.

I think having this built-in would be great. We currently do this through an extension attribute.

erm.. no.. this should not be in JAMF.. it should be in the linked device record in the Helpdesk system.. or maybe the inventory database..

Every object in Jamf, be it a computer or a policy, already has a Notes section under History.

I don't think that Computers do...

But most other items do.

They do.  Computer Record > History > Add Note.

Oh d*mn!  Never ever saw that 🤣

Good to know, but kinda odd method...thanks!

Where Jamf is not an inventory management tool or a ticketing system, I do agree it would be nice to be able to add notes to a computer record would be really nice. Also, I would love to be able to require notes to be entered to make any changes to things, this way we know who did what and why.

thats helpful

what we use.. for engineers to add something to the device record is a free form EA.... this way its easy to see in the record, easy to export..

can you not see it? do I need to repost the image for the boomers gen Z 😁 (no I have no idea why the kids don't use dark mode) anyway.. 😆

It shows now...was really blurry before.  Might be my LAN.

And as a boomer, I use dark mode just fine kid!  😝

BUT - when I screenshot those places in JAMF UI, I always click the "edit" button so the image I create has contrast...there's a protip!
